If even a number of liberals consider us sex crazed, potential rapists

just what hope is there? I just don't know what to say when on a liberal forum there is evidently some number of people who literally fear being raped if they are seen naked by a gay man. Christ Jesus, do these people think we grow up surrounded by women or singularly ugly men? Do they think we have never seen a straight guy naked? I honestly don't know what to think.

I don't know whether to laugh at the silliness, or cry at the sadness of it all.

anyways, I'm a straight liberal guy who is uncomfortable being naked around strangers, not because of who they are, but because I know I"m not so hot looking (being overweight). I guess I'm saying, don't give up on all us liberal straight folk...a great many of us support your rights unequivacably (sp?)

6. I have been thinking about that thread.

It is quite disturbing.

It is all about education and stories. I know I am fairly naive about all of this but those two things have worked for me more often than not. There are surely those who will not hear because they refuse to. It either hurts them to think or scares them that they may have been wrong all along and that is always a difficult thing to know about yourself.

Frankly I see nothing silly to laugh about and I don't cry when angry so for me I just have to think and try to figure it all out. For you, I hope you laugh at what you see as silly because sometimes it is all you can do and I do not wish sadness for you. There has been too much sadness lately.

So you can tell them that straight men rape gay men more than the other way around, but they don't get it. You can tell them straight men rape women more than the other way around, but they don't get it.

They have a hard time getting that rape is about entitlement and power, and an even harder time getting that those with the most privilege are those with the most sense of entitlement and power - and that ain't the women or the members of the GLBT community.

Who is so up themselves and convinced of their own irresistability that they actually think that being raped by a gay in the showers is even remotely within the realm of possibility? It's like he thinks he is so unbelievably attractive when naked that men and women are unable to control themselves!

Not that they think they would rape a woman in that situation, mind you. But I would guess a fair number of them enjoy porn with domination/rape simulation scenes, and maybe have even acted such scenarios out as a "game" - in other words, they find the concept of rape appealing and erotic on some level. If they're looking at straight porn, they can't help but notice that rape is considered a mainstream way for straight men to get aroused.

My first post here by a friends recommendation.
I don't know how to start a new post but this topic caught my eye.
Living in Portland I am well aware of the stigma against Gays in the community and am quite disappointed that people would label another innocent person like that.

While I believe in equal rights for all people and animals, I just can't agree with people that treat others as criminals just because of their birthright.

That a female friend of mine that spent the night at my house was secretly afraid that I was going to attack her in her sleep and have my way with her. And this, mind you, was from someone that knew me.

This stupidity is, I think, a little more prevalent than I care to admit at times. But I remember, at the time, being unsure of whether to laugh at her stupidity or cry in frustration. I think I pretty much cut her out of my life, and took a number of our friends with me. Didn't help 100% though...
