Gay couples ready to rush to courthouse
http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/news/1202010909301670.xml&coll=7

Over the past 35 years, Donna Taylor and Paula Kratz have raised a daughter, bought a house and built a life together without the legal protections that come with marriage.

They've told their story countless times at the Oregon Legislature, at rallies and to the media to support gay rights through decades of hope and disappointment.

On Monday, Taylor, 61, and Kratz, 58, plan to be among hundreds of same-sex couples across Oregon who are expected to register as domestic partners under a new state law that entitles them to most of the benefits and responsibilities of married couples.

1. and where are our presidential hopefuls on THIS one?
NOWHERE!?!

Until one of them speaks up for FULL EQUAL RIGHTS for ALL QUEER PEOPLE, I'm not really impressed by ANY of them.

4. oh so I get full federal benefits under the Oregon plan?
I get my partner's social security benefits should he pre-decease me?
Oh, I didn't think so...

Not equal rights at all.

Separate, but equal....

5. If our candidates have their way you will
and currently you could be married in MA and still not have those rights.

7. We won't get it
I wish we would, but we won't. We could elect Barney Frank, but we still won't get it.

8. Separate is not equal. Separate is inherently bigoted. Those who support separation are bigots.
The only two "viable" Democratic candidates openly oppose equality and endorse separation.

What more needs to be said?
