Dad Seeks $4M After Daughter Sees Gay Porn
(Knoxville, Tennessee) A Tennessee man who once was a Big Brother contestant is seeking $4-million in damages after his young daughter opened a mailing containing gay pornography.

Kent Blackwelder, who appeared in Big Brother 2" in 2001 and now runs a sandwich shop, has filed a federal lawsuit against Delaware-based Specialty Publications which promotes adult gay material.

The lawsuit claims that the mailing was "unsolicited" and that his 12-year old daughter opened the envelope that said on the outside "free DVD" thinking it was from the Disney Corp.

Instead, the envelope contained the DVD "Titan Men's Farm Fresh," and promotional material for a gay adult magazine.

1. Pffffft....
Sounds like Kent just may have "accidentally" added his name to their mailing list. I hardly doubt they send offers out to the general public.

He was a major dick on Big Brother.

not to belittle the effect of porn on a young person, but I had no idea sensibilities had that high of a price tag.

7. What an ass
First of all, what gay porn outfit sends stuff unsolicited? Second of all, would this asshat be suing if the porn company were straight? I doubt it. I hope the judge throws this stupid lawsuit right out of court.

8. I am VERY old and I get LOTS of junk mail. I have never, ever, gotten
"unsolicited" porn of ANY kind, gay, straight, or having to do with unusual practices, in my entire life.

It's a violation of the law to send that stuff unsolicited through the mail.

Someone asked for it to be sent to him--maybe a dislexic neighbor, or maybe someone who thinks the guy is a fucking asshole or wanted to get him upset, make an insinuation, or ridicule him for some reason, or maybe a classmate who hates one of his kids.

Or maybe he ordered it himself, and because his kid opened it, he has to play this game out....

He'd better not have ordered it online, they'll be able to track that stuff!!! The owner of the business doesn't seem TOO upset in this article: http://www.volunteertv.com/home/headlines/14272482.html

You might be wondering why a little girl opened her dad's mail.

"It had no warning and daughter saw that and thought it was from Disney that's why she opened it."

U.S. postal service regulations for any sexual explicit advertisement says in the right portion below the postage stamp and above the addressee designation there must be placed a "sexually oriented ad".

There was a warning on the inside, but Buckhalter says there was no warning on the outside of the envelope.

Blackwelder, who owns a deli in Powell and starred in CBS's 2001 Big Brother reality show is asking for $3.85 million dollars in damages.

Burkhalter continues, "when you file complaint set amount max amount the jury will deem certain amount."

Blackweler is also asking for specialty publications to put a warning on sexually explicit mail.

"He was injunction to prevent sending into home without complying with us postal regulations."

Specialty publications attorney Richard Hollow of Knoxville says it's premature to speculate on the alleged claims.

He's getting the case prepared for trial where they'll present evidence under oath.

11. so the DVD was addressed to him, and the daughter opened it
Maybe daddy should tell daughter not to open up his gay porn mailings. That would solve the problem.

Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 07:29 PM by rocknation
She shouldn't have opened it. Case dismissed!

P.S. Would STRAIGHT porn have made him happier?

P.P.S. There was warning inside the DVD? Can't his daughter read?

15. unreal.
Unless the thing was totally unsolicited and addressed to her, both of which i doubt, is there any case here?

That would be a very odd thing to get in the mail at random

17. I get the same mailings
I started getting them after I subscribed to Passport Magazine, which is a travel magazine that caters to the gay community. About a month after my first issue arrived i got something from Titan. The brochures were H.O.T HOT!!

19. I am willing to bet Blackwelder knew EXACTLY what was in the mail
Methinks the laddie doth protest too much.

I would not at all be surprised to learn that Blackwelder is yet another conservative closet case who had ordered videos from this company before and thus was on the mailing list. His daughter got the mail and accidentally opened something he knew could have come in. He lied about this to his wife and kid, leading to this ridiculous lawsuit in a desperate effort to make himself and his daughter into victims of the degenerate homos.

20. He forgot to read the fine print the last time he ordered (ahem) online materials
and clicked on the box accepting the terms and conditions. I am curious about the real effect this had on his daughter. I imagine she was shocked and confused by the images, but it's difficult to imagine it causing any lasting emotional harm.

As for Blackwelder, I can imagine the emotional distress at exposing his online activities in this way, but that's his own fault. I know it's usually too much fine print to read, but if you don't want to receive fun and exciting promotional materials in the mail then don't click "I Agree".
