So on Thursday our faculty advisor came into the GLBT Pride Alliance
to talk to us about how things were running... or in this case, NOT running. Basically we had a vice president who hadn't shown up since the first meeting, a president who hadn't even wanted to be president, she'd just shown up and been told, "You're president now." because the previous president's grades had dropped enough that she wasn't allowed to be an officer. So the previous president was still trying to run everything despite not being an officer and despite the fact that she wasn't ever around and wasn't able to keep up with everything. (for the same reason that her grades dropped last semester. Personal medical stuff, I won't get into that.) There had been absolutely NO communication between her and the faculty advisor, and she hadn't been able to make it to the last two meetings... it's just not a good idea to put all our eggs in one basket if A) that basket isn't even allowed to have official responsibilities and B) that basket isn't around and available.

So long story short, everything gets revamped. The treasurer is the only one with experience leading groups and the president's last job was treasurer, so those two switched. And since the main job of the VP seems to be updating websites and I mentioned that I know how to make websites... next thing I know, I'm VP. :P

There was a big 'officer training' thing yesterday that I went to about half of. Couldn't show up for the first half because of scheduling, but I'm guessing I didn't miss much.

So yeah... not sure how 'I know HTML' so quickly turns into, 'I'm the VP'... but whatever works. :)

1. congrats VP!
Being willing to show up probably counted more than just knowing HTML... Good luck!

2. Yeah, I've been to every meeting except I couldn't make it to the first one.
So I never actually met the previous VP. For all I know she's just a figment of their collective imagination. :P

4. I don't know too many details about her medical situation
and even if I did, I wouldn't wanna talk about it here for reasons of privacy and whatnot. Just general courtesy. :) All I know is that it's making it so that she can't do the things that need to get done, and she was the only one who knew what was going on and knew what needed to be done... so that just wasn't working.
