Un-Equal Rights for GLBT People Now
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 09:50 AM by roughsatori
It is the Only way for the Democratic party to survive. Posted at the following DU link by someone else (not me). Please read my post so you know I do not agree with such nonsense. I also alerted on the person.

The thread is a report about a Gay Rights Group and its Endorsement. As it may be against the rules to post The DU members name, I will post my response and a link to the topic that the bigot is proselytizing in.

My Post:

24. I can't tell if you are joking or against me having the same rights, under the law, that you have.
I thought it was against DU rules for posters to promote unequal Civil-Rights; even if the posters' bigotry were cloaked under a goal to get a Dem elected.

The kind of thinking that your post promotes reeks of political cowardice; your words shout to us all that not all American deserve Equal-Rights.

If people had thought that way you do, regarding Equal-Rights, in the past--women and African-Americans would still not be allowed to own land or vote.

If the Democratic Party is destroyed, it will not be caused by fighting for Equal-Rights for GLBT people. It will be due to the Democratic Party following the kind of cowardly agenda your post is attempting to sell.

1. And he quotes MLK in his profile: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
He has eyes but he cannot see.

4. I did not even notice the MLK quote. I will go back just to see the bizarre juxtaposition. NT

10. They mock Dr King
That is the fact. They know nothing of his life and work. They don't know his mentor, the man who taught him passive resistance and the main organizer of the Washington March was a gay man. Bayard Rustin or Ruskin, one or the other. That is one of the reasons Corretta was so strong with gay people, she knew who walked that courageous path with her and her husband.

13. Have you seen the documentary: "Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Ruskin," by Kates and Singer?
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 11:29 AM by roughsatori
It is enthralling and enlightening. It was proposed that a public school in Philadelphia be named for him a few years ago. The city jettisoned the idea, hushed it up, and blamed his "homosexual life-style." Outrageous. The part about the school is not in the Documentary, The doc has been shown on PBS, Logo, and film Festivals.

3. if you want unequal rights, hillary and obama are your candidates. sorry to say they are dems but
if you are willing to settle for back of the bus as opposed to being kept off the bus completly, they are both ok.

McCain would rather you couldnt even walk.

6. You are absolutely correct.
Neither Hilary or Obama have complete Equal-Rights for us as part of their platforms. Thank you for reminding me.

9. I didn't see it, but I'm sure it was bad ...
Sounds like it should've been included in the "The Best of DU" thread (for better or worse)

12. Now let's promote gay marriage everywhere!

That's the fastest road to President McCain. Sorry.

If it were not for the hate in the post that you quote, the lack of logic would be hilarious. Thank you very much for posting that!
