Apparently Obama has only given ONE interview to the LGBT press...
...according to Michelangelo, who is usually fairly trustworthy. It ain't just Philly, he's apparently snubbing all of them.

Clinton Gives Interview to Philly Gay Paper; Obama Declines

Hillary Clinton gave an interview to the Philadelphia Gay News. Not much new, and she does the usual dance around marriage. More eyebrow-raising is the fact that the paper, according to AP article, left an empty space for the Obama interview: As with just about every other gay press request, he declined to be interviewed. The only interview Obama has in fact given to the LGBT press is the Advocate short interview he did as damage control during the Donnie McClurkin controversy and which was only focused on that issue

2. Good question...while I don't think BO is an enemy of the GLBT community...
...I think you'd be hard pressed to call him a true friend...I think he avoid interviews because he's not well-versed in these issues.

9. how can such a wordly man not well versed in homosexuality? He seems like an intellect who would be
interested in these sort of things..it worries me that homosexuality is unpleasing to him he didn't care that much for it..

3. I Am NOT an Obama Fan, But This Says Nothing About Hillary.
If she was the one in the lead, and he was the one desperate to make up ground, he'd be lining up to kiss GLBT ass, too.

Have either one of the hypocrites pledge to make same-sex marriage the law of the land, and I'll start listening to what they have to say.

4. Don't hold your breath...no one expecting to get elected will come out
in favor of it...it's political suicide. Politician don't lead, they follow the people, and once it's a safe thing to come out in favor of gay marriage, you'll see more of them doing so. And don't bring up Al Gore...his support of gay marriage is a sure indication that he is not considering running for anything.

5. Believe Me, I'm Well Aware That I'll Never Hear Either Of Those Cowards Back Gay Marriage.
I'm aware of the nature of the political animal. I'm also aware that the Democratic party in particular is about 4 years behind what the "people" want...on just about every issue. Call me when they start fronting people who'll BRING change, rather than people who'll just talk about it.

6. Yeah, it's disappointing...but at least they're not 4 CENTURIES
behind the times like the Repukes.

8. That's why it's such a joke that people say "Dems will be there as soon as the country is."
Once the country is with us, why would we need the Democrats? I mean, seriously?

10. Hillary appeared on the cover of the advocate
when she was still viewed as the prohibitive front runner. She has constantly given interviews to the gay press.

11. But Lip Service Is All We'll Ever Get From Her, DSC.
I definitely don't want to fight with you about Hillary...OR Obama, because I can't stand either of them. Like I said in another thread, if you want to root for either of them, fine, but please leave gay issues out of the debate. Neither one would do anything to advance us at all. They've both demonstrated that we are an extremely low priority to them.

I just hope that after Obama wins the presidency, we won't have to listen to at least four years of "If Hillary had won, she would have done THIS...!"

12. I don't want to fight either
but the fact is Hillary has repeatedly brought our issues to the fore. I do think she is more likely to see ENDA and hate crimes pass than Obama is.

13. I think she's better versed on the issues, and more sympathetic to those
issues than BO...but she's also a politician and no politician is going to stick his/her neck out over gay issues. The best we can hope for is baby steps...and when society takes the lead, DC will follow.
