What is your opinion about this clip?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sODx1RZnQPE (the clip is 3:13 minutes long)

This is about the idotic "Pastor's Banner Links Obama to Osama" flap. It is is posted in Political Videos, here at DU. The commentator makes some good remarks, but it is when he gets to his "comparision" situation that bothers me.

So this post doesn't get locked or moved to GD: P, please limit comments to the "comparison" and not comments about Obama or the "flap," unless in passing. Thanks.

2. I think it's okay, because I think The Young Turks are gay, too, and do each other in the ass.
Actually, I don't THINK they do. I just WONDER if they do.

I should put it on a sign and stimulate conversation.

3. I think that TYT is trying to use an example
of the last thing this reverend would want to talk about. In this case, a gay love affair with his brother.

That being said, they probably went too far with the imagery, for lack of a better word.

5. I understand what they are doing.
So, why not use an analogy of him beating his wife, having an incestuous relationship with his mother or daughter, or robbing the 'poor box'? I loathe when liberals use anti-gay imagery to "prove a point" when other examples would be just as "electric." IMHO, it is relying on homophobia. Was the incest not powerful enough?

6. For the Rev.'s congregation, incest might not be powerful enough
Unfortunate as it may be, there's nothing that would cripple this Rev. more than a gay love affair. It's sad, but the example used would be the most incendiary thing that could happen to that church.

I completely understand your disdain for this though.
