Gay Bible angers Christians
A gay version of the Bible, in which God says it is better to be gay than straight, is to be published by an American film producer.

New Mexico-based Revision Studios will publish The Princess Diana Bible – so named because of Diana's "many good works", it says – online at princessdianabible.com in spring 2009. A preview of Genesis is already available, in which instead of creating Adam and Eve, God creates Aida and Eve.

"And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Aida, and she slept: and he took one of her ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; and the rib, which the Lord God had taken from woman, made he another woman, and brought her unto the first. And Aida said, 'This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of me. Therefore shall a woman leave her mother, and shall cleave unto her wife: and they shall be one flesh.' And they were both naked, the woman and her wife, and were not ashamed."

The film studio said it would also adapt and direct the revised Bible as a two-part mini-series, The Gay Old Testament and The Gay New Testament, once it is completed.

3. If we don't give them something to be outraged over
they'll look for it. If they don't find it, they'll manufacture it.

See: The War against Christmas.

19. How could anyone put chocolate and "poor taste" in the same sentence?
Edited on Wed Dec-03-08 02:19 PM by Jamastiene
:wtf: is wrong with them?

I loooooove chocolate. Mmmmm, chocolate. :P

Shit, if they thought anything at all of Jesus, they would have made him chocolate to begin with instead of flat, boring ol' bread, imo.

7. I'm not sure how I feel about this
I don't mind when the Bible is rewritten as a parody -- I think the Queen Jane's Version is great and I have a copy on my shelf at home -- because such parodies help shine a spotlight on inconsistencies, hypocricy and outright bigotry. But this... what purpose does it serve, really? I'm not sure this is meant as parody.

12. Yeah, it just seems like a stick in the eye.
Not sure if we should be making bullets for the enemy, at this point. What's the point? Is it funny? Satire? Doesn't seem like it . . .

Just gives ammo to the other side and alienates Christians who may have been brought around.

If they don't like our culture then they should stay the hell away. No one is forcing them to read either the "Queen Jane Version" or "The Princess Diana Bible".

16. We're you on the fence before this,
or had you already made up your mind? There are people on both ends of the spectrum that won't be moved by anything really. It's those in the middle that can be swayed to one side or the other. And I'd say this does more to sway undecided christians against homosexuals than it does for them.

30. How about I put on a suit and tie and talk manly...
Go to church and be quiet...will that work with the Christians to win them over?

Maybe do flowers at their weddings? Be a little gay but not TOO gay??

"My name is Billy, I am homosexual but I don't do that icky butt sex stuff. I am just like you see we have the same jacket on. Can I read the bible with you?"

Faaahhhhhkkkkkk.....that.

21. How is this different from the numerous "revisions" in the past?
The Bible has always been used for social control by a ruling elite.

King James Edition...FEH!

I am all for this Princess Diana Edition....I might even consider being "born again homo fundie"

GOD HATES BREEDERS!!!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

22. So homosexuals are
the ruling elite now?

I'm not saying that the bible is the word of god, I don't believe it is. Or even if it were, that we have much of the original bible left after numerous "updates" and retranslations.

However some people do believe it, a lot in this country, and if you want to win them over to your side this isn't going to help. For instance, the Mormons were largely blamed for prop 8 results. Do you think this will encourage those among their flock who are undecided to come over to the other side, or will it reinforce what they've been taught that homosexuals are out to destroy or pervert Christianity?

For instance, MLK didn't win white supporters who maybe were lukewarm on the issue of civil rights over to his side by acting like some inner city thug, or ignorant caricature of black people. Instead he was very calm, rational, and respectful. In other words, he did not work to reinforce negative stereotypes about his people, and he was successful in winning over much of the opposition.

Who do you think this bible will win over?

29. BREAKING: MLK'S Suit and Tie Secured Black Freedom!!!
ignorant caricature?
inner city thug?

Are you saying his suit was key to the civil rights movement success?

Malcolm X being there certainly put a little fear those little fat white faces that maybe showed the path they didn't want to go down.

MLK won over the opposition with his message and a massive social and political movement. Not his suit and tie and pretty speeches. The fuckhead racists didn't care about how he talked or his suit...they didn't like the color of his skin.

Oh and if you remember he got his head blown off by those same fuckheads.

Sorry people don't fit into nice white bread, Christian approved personalities.

There are lots of gay folk who don't hold to people telling them how to look and act. I for one care less if a Christian is "uncomfortable" in my presence.

That is their problem not mine. there are going to have radical factions of any social change movement.

Gay Rights is no different.

Face it, the most reasonable people who COULD be brought around HAVE been brought around.

There's a core of haters who are never going to change.

need to stop and question which master they are really following. In all sincerity, they act more like false prophets than anything at this point.

18. I wish I could afford a copy of that Bible.
I'm glad it's pissing them off. Maybe one or two of those who are so outraged will stop and think about what it would be like if the shoe was on the other foot. I mean that literally too; one or two. It's all we can expect from those types. I know that from experience down here in Fundyland. :eyes:

I do wish I could have a copy of that book.

27. I wish it was written better and had a better website.
If you're going to rewrite some "queer" you might as well go ahead and rewrite it instead of plugging same-gender names into a document. Without good writing, it's kind of just shock value. Not to say the Bible isn't "good writing", but stiff translations of Aramaic and Greek into 16th century English isn't my idea of a page turner, but hey, to each his/her/zere own.

31. I would prefer to agrue law and fairness rather than faith.
It's interesting to discuss theology, or the history of scripture and how various books were deleted or chosen, or even to ferret out the translation errors and questions.

Yet, as a political movement, I think our strength is arguing gay rights as fairness and justice principles.

For some this is messing with "divine revelation" for others it's re-writting a myth, there doesn't seem to be much common ground we can bridge there.
