El Coyote' Restaurant Manager resigns over Prop 8 boycott
http://www.towleroad.com/2008/12/el-coyote-resta.html

"EL COYOTE' RESTAURANT MANAGER RESIGNS OVER PROP 8 BOYCOTT
Shortly after Prop 8 passed in California, the popular L.A. Mexican restaurant El Coyote came under criticism for a donation to "Yes on 8" by the restaurant's manager Marjorie Christoffersen. After threats of boycotts and protests Christoffersen held a meeting to try to assuage the anger of the gay community but wasn't very successful.

Word comes now from L.A.'s Frontiers magazine that Christoffersen has resigned over the flap:

"Bill Schoeppner, a fellow manager at El Coyote who has been with the restaurant for 26 years, told Frontiers Christoffersen was also resigning as a member of El Coyote's board of directors. 'She no longer works here,' Schoeppner said on Saturday. 'She just told me tonight.'..Schoeppner said Christoffersen tended her resignation to her mother, Grace Salisbury, who is described on the El Coyote Web site as the 'matriarch' of the restaurant. Salisbury's sister-in-law founded El Coyote in 1931. 'Everybody is kind of used to her walking around the restaurant with a water pitcher going from table to table to table,' Schoeppner said of Christofferson. 'I guess that part is no longer going to exist.'"

2. I don't think her resignation matters. Does she receive profits from the restaurant?
In light of the close family connection?

The boycott must have really cut in on their business if she is doing this at this late date.

4. Im not sure - is her whole family LDS or just her?
I dont know enough about her family - but your right, either way the boycott is working and needs to keep going IMO. We as a community have a right to spend our money where we choose.

9. LA Times: El Coyote manager, targeted by gay marriage backers, might quit
Let's hope this bitch is gone for good! Remember that she donate the money because LDS told her to. Germans turned in Jews because their government told them to.

El Coyote manager, targeted by gay marriage backers, might quit

1:48 PM, December 8, 2008

Here's an important footnote to the string of boycotts and protests by gay-marriage supporters after Proposition 8 was approved by voters last month.

Marjorie Christoffersen, a manager at El Coyote who became a lightning rod for protests because of her donation to supporters of the ban on same-sex marriage, is said to be considering resigning, according to a restaurant official.

El Coyote manager Larry Crenshaw said Christoffersen is considering leaving the eatery, but no final decision has been made.

The restaurant was the scene of protests, pickets and boycotts in the days after voters approved Proposition 8.

Christoffersen, who is Mormon, had given $100 to the Yes on 8 campaign. Her mother owns the restaurant. Crenshaw said Christoffersen has stopped serving and greeting customers at the venerable Mexican eatery known for its margaritas.
