whey protein -- pros and cons
Anyone here taking whey protein either to help regulate blood sugar or for other reasons nutritional? Not looking for medical advice, as this is a food product. Just wondering how it tastes and how you use it. In a smoothie? What?

1. It's a good product. It's pretty cheap, too.
There are several proteins in it that are especially good for health, but people ought to avoid getting into the psychological habit of thinking of food as medicine.

It tastes good. I mix it with a little powdered milk and Instant Breakfast and water and drink it as a quick breakfast. I don't even put it in the blender, I mix it with a spoon -- it has enough consistency on its own.

As for regulating blood sugar, I have no clue.

2. My kid started with it during football season,
and he uses a blender to add fruit, strawberries and bananas mostly. It's supposed to be a muscle builder, combined with weight-lifting.

3. It tastes nasty to me, but maybe that's the blend.
No soy, which is a plus for me. I choke it down in milk with flax seed.

Bleh.

6. Try fruit juice instead of milk
It's a concentrated protein source when it's in powder form, good for a breakfast smoothie when you can't face anything solid.

I prefer soy smoothies, but that's just me.

Fruit juice kills the taste of both.

7. Thanks for the suggestion,
I'll try that!
I like the taste of the soy too, alas, can't use it.
Aloha.

4. Yup - Mammoth 2500 going on 2 years now
.
.
.

Was using 3 10 liter (4.4 Kilograms) tubs a month at first needing quick weight gain after weight loss due to illness

Now only about 1 tub every month or so - mix it with my coffee for a quick boost in the am when I either don't have time or feel like making a real meal

And tastes sweet ( I use Vanilla, but also available in strawberry and chocolate) - so I've cut down to almost no sugar in my coffee at all now.

I was down to 124 from about 160 -

I ain't a bodybuilder, but with this stuff I shot to 140 in about 4 months with no exercise program, and am now at about 150

so almost back to normal - and I have more energy than ever

More info at here

5. Check out goat whey protein.
It is better than cow protein.
