Synthetic marijuana aids fibromyalgia pain

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- A synthetic form of marijuana -- nabilone -- significantly reduced pain and anxiety in fibromyalgia patients, Canadian researchers found.

The study, published in The Journal of Pain, found those treated with nabilone had significant reductions in pain and anxiety, measured by comparisons with baseline scores.

The randomized, controlled-access trial involved 40 subjects and was conducted at the University of Manitoba Rehabilitation Hospital. The nabilone and placebo groups were treated for four weeks.

Improvement was significant, but none of the subjects had total symptom relief. The drug was well tolerated by those being treated -- fibromyalgia patients are sensitive to many medications and tolerate side effects poorly.

drug companies do not want people growing their own. THEY can't make any money off of it that way.
The government and drug companies constantly put out propaganda about the dangers of smoking pot, but yet they have no proof of any long term harmful effects of this herb.

It has so many benefits that they refuse to put the truth out there. They would rather pump children and adults full of synthetic crap that has side effects longer than you arm.

3. Doctors group backs marijuana for medical uses
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A leading U.S. doctors group has endorsed using marijuana for medical purposes, urging the government to roll back a prohibition on using it to treat patients and supporting studies into its medical applications.

The American College of Physicians, the second-largest doctors group in the United States, issued a policy statement on medical marijuana this week after it was approved by its governing body, the group said on Friday.

The group cited evidence that marijuana is valuable in treating severe weight loss associated with AIDS, and nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy in cancer patients.

...

It called for exempting doctors who prescribe or dispense medical marijuana in accordance with state law from federal criminal prosecution and other actions. It also urged protection from criminal penalties for patients who use medical marijuana as permitted under state laws.

7. Not surprised
My partner has fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, and gets relief from smoking marijuana. It reduces her pain and muscle cramps. I have cerebral palsy and find that it reduces my spasticity and pain. Three cheers for the green medicine!
