Did This Happen On The Oprah Show? - Embryonic Stem Cells Denounced On National TV
Subj: Dr. on Oprah says Embryonic Stem Cells cause cancer, not a cure for Parkinsons
Date: 4/13/2009 1:09:23 PM Pacific Daylight Time
From: amschatz@comcast.net

Dear Family and Friends for Life,

I'm not an Oprah fan by a long shot but this is one clip you need to watch. She and Michael J Fox are in shock at what they hear. Michael J Fox has been pushing for Embryonic Cell Research since his diagnosis of Parkinsons.

This was sent to me by Fr. George. This is what we've been praying for. On National TV and the Oprah Show, with Michael J. Fox as her guest and Dr. Oz (not a joke....that's his name) it is revealed for all to hear that Embryonic Stem Cells cause cancer and are not the way to go for a cure for Parkinsons.

Not only that, but he goes on to tell how our own cells may be the cure for Parkinsons, Diabetes and other disease. Let's see what difference this makes in research now and if MJ Fox will change his tune to the world. Keep storming heaven for the unborn babies.

The link to the actual TV footage is below the message I received.

May Jesus bless you, Mary love you and Joseph guide you always!

.....................................

God will not be stopped. If you were going to have one hit on TV to spread a message where would you go? The Oprah show and God arranged this in fact.

Because Dr Mehmet Oz, on a show where Oprah had the poster kid for pushing embryonic stem cell research, Michael J Fox and was pushing for this research (which wastes human lives), on THIS show, Dr Oz, the show's medical advisor, not only told the millions of viewers and Fox that Embryonic stem cells cannot hold the cure for anything but proceeded to show one of the problems (that in all the rat studies, embryonic stem cell implants caused the growth of strange tumors i.e. covered with hair etc).

Dr. Oz explained to a shocked Oprah that this was because these cells are TOO undifferentiated and can grow into everything and we don't know how to make them grow into anything useful. But, Dr Oz, continued, the REAL cure will …

mjc:
Let's consider a simple analogy -

Take a mature adult from his home and place him to another setting.......in a car, in a restaurant, in a scorching desert, in a library, in the path of a train............and, from the context of the immediate environment, he knows what to do (Drive! Eat! Seek shade! Be quiet! Move!). But take an immature child and similarly transpose him and the result would be chaos at best..

So it is with mature vs. immature stem cells.

4. My point in posting this is because I am now hearing impaired and the only thing I watch on TV
is the evening news. I never listen to the radio anymore.

You people are so rude - guess this is the problem with anonymity -
you always think that everyone else is is as astute as you think you are with no consideration for anyone else and their infirmities.

I have a right to ask that question as I want to respond to the person who sent this to me with accurate informationm.

8. I apologize, I didn't mean to be rude
but I am a bit reactionary to anything that is "Right to Life" and your link to the YouTube video was on a channel that is all about ProLifer mentality and I have spent endless hours debating abortion with people like that.

So, yes, this interview on Oprah did happen and appeared to take Oprah and MJ Fox by surprise and there is much controversy in the "media" as to whether Oprah tried to bury this interview on her website, all from sources that link to the organizations that are ProLife. From further investigation, it would appear that this went viral with the right to lifer blogs as some sort of argument against abortion and Obama in general, and I have had way too much of that already. Thus the knee-jerk reaction for which I apologize.

While "embryonic" stem cell research "may not" be the cure Parkinsons, it has been very valuable in other diseases and there is no doubt that stem cell research has produced valuable results and should be continued. The cost of storing cord blood is prohibitive, and wasn't an option for those who could use it now. My daughter is a Molecular Biologist, she arranged to save the cord blood from her first-born. The hospital screwed it up. Same with the 2nd born. Kind of makes you wonder why - but that isn't my point.

As long as this is an anti-abortion issue then I will not pay any attention to the zealots who obviously were behind your receipt of this email to begin with.

Again, I apologize, I did not mean to be offensive, I was just reacting. Hugs.

7. Thank you LuvNewcastle for your response. I have cut and pasted
what was actually said on the program and am sending it on to the person who sent the original post to me. I want to set the record straight with her and this is the only way I know how to do it.

I honestly believe the woman has a screw loose but I will try to be as diplomatic as possible, short of calling her a "fucking nut" which is par for the course with many DUers.

6. The lack of logical reasoning skills in these 'messages' is really scary.
Comparing mature cells and stem cells to an adult human and a baby? What an idiot!

Stem cell treatments do not cause cancer. God, the stupidity of some people is just amazing.
