Just received a bill that has me seething...
one year ago United Seating and Mobility came out to service my wheelchair, okay, today I received a bill for $1,241.59 of which $654.71 of the charges are simply described as "misc patient share" charges. I wonder what excuse they'll give me for billing me a year after the fact THIS time. ATTENTION PRESIDENT OBAMA, THIS IS THE SYSTEM YOU ARE TRYING TO WORK WITHIN! I will call them Monday and tell them to send me an itemized bill. The MDA picks up some of the cost, so I have no idea what they or my insurance paid because that also is not itemized on this bill. Quite personally I think United Seating inflates its charges because they are the MDA's provider.:grr:

1. Wow! That is all I can say. Good idea to get an itemized.

2. Go get `em! That is outrageous.
They'll give someone a heart attack or stroke with bills like that.

3. I'd suggest following the call with a certified letter (even if they give you a
satisfactory response).Get the person's name and supervisor's name. Tell whoever you speak to that you'll be sending a confirmation letter to his/her supervisor containing details of your concerns and of the conversation you just had. CC: to your attorney, your congressperson and anybody else you think should know. Attach a copy of the invoice.

4. That is absolute bullshit!!
Bad enough that they are billing you for something called "misc patient share" -- but to bill you a year after?

WTF?

Please let us know how this turns out.

5. That was not a bill you should consider paying
although the overall charge wasn't out of line for a wheelchair service call. Really.

The bill should have listed parts and labor, parts itemized and labor per hour. The labor charge will seem excessive, but realize it might have included traveling to your area.

Don't let them pull this shit without a fight.

6. Isn't that more than the cost of a chair?

8. It depends on what type of chair it is
If it's one of those little motorized granny chairs, it's just a little bit under. If it's a motorized wheel chair that's set up to accept other equipment for quads, it's considerably more expensive.

11. Oh, labor is on here: 294.27
Two foam filled tires: 232.61. Those charges are for my deductible. So, what the hell are the rest for?

7. That is an outrage
Don't you dare pay anything without an itemized bill. I think they're just trying to see what they can get

without a fight.

10. having lost my dad a few years ago -- i am all too familar with bills
that come un-itemized and as much or even more than a year later.

this is a horrible business practise and disguises all kinds of over charges.
