I increased my monthly ACLU donation this morning!
It felt great! I told the person I spoke to that my reason for the increase was due to the right wing's recent actions, including the Flag Amendment and the Marriage Amendment. I truly believe that the ACLU is part of the cure for the right wing fever that this country seems to be going through. Few things make me happier than hearing about hateful right wing ballot measures being knocked out by the ACLU in court! Things like that weaken the right wing; they spent all that time and money spreading hatred and got NOTHING out of it!! The far right wouldn't spread lies about the ACLU if they didn't see them as a major threat to their agenda. I encourage everybody to either make a donation or increase their donation to show your disgust with the radical right.

Regardless of whether we Democrats beat the Republicans in November, we can always weaken them by supporting the ACLU and similar groups. Remember the saying: "If you can't beat'em, hurt'em!" That will make it easier to beat the far right in the long run.

2. RW losers
You said it. Quite a number of us love to go to their own RW web forums and take their legs out from under them. They rant about the ACLU is this and that and the other. The marvelous thing is that there is nothing they can do about it.

The ACLU is our keg of dynamite that is destroying their foundation and superstructure. It is a joy to behold when someone from the right receives a legal beating and then has to cough up serious cash to support their enemy, the ACLU, -like in the Dover case-, I loved it. :)

We do need the next election and I think we will win big, but if not, as long as we support the ACLU and keep them strong, we won't lose much ground even if they steal another trip to the Whitehouse.

4. Religious Right History Revisionism
Hi...

I thought some people here might be interested in a book I have coming out very soon - probably the middle of this week, although I can't get an exact date.

A couple of years ago, I decided to make it my mission in life to fight the religious right American history revisionists, and at the request of people on other message boards where I was rebutting the lies, began to write a book. I have now completed the first volume of what will be a three volume series of books debunking virtually every religious right history lie ever told, and doing so in so much detail that David Barton and his ilk will have no possible defense.

If anyone wants to read a preview, I have the Foreword, the Introduction, and the first few pages of each chapter on my website: http://www.liarsforjesus.com

Something you won't be able to see in the preview is that the book also contains every instance I could find of Supreme Court justices, both past and current, using the lies from the religious right history books as historical evidence in their opinions. Hopefully, exposing the lies in past court opinions will help prevent the future use of these lies by the courts.

I know advertising is frowned upon on most message boards, but there is really no way that I can tell people who might be interested in this book that I've written it without it essentially being an advertisement, so I hope people here don't mind me posting this.
