USA Today Questioned the GOP Bragging on Morals
Sorry, I dont have the link.

Their big thing was if the GOP chose to be the champion of morals on gay and abortion issues, maybe they had opened the door for other morals which they certainly did not champion.

Such as honoring Christ's Golden Rule and taking care of the poor and needy.

Believe, me when you ask a Bushie these questions, they scatter fast.

I ask them at every opportunity. Glad to see USA Today is now picking up on it. Maybe more of the conservative media will have the guts to do so.

1. Damn straight! Would Jesus rather us feed a thousand hungry people
or build a 100 foot statue of him?

The fact that there are so many brand new big ass churches popping up everywhere and so many homeless people, makes me think some are not practicing what they preach.

3. Christ said to give up all material posessions and carry His message
Many of the churches are applying at the federal teat to let them receive federal monies to channel to the poor. Of course, the poor gets the crumbs after the new churches are built and the hierarchy are paid well enough to invest in the markets like Robertson and Falwell did. They live high on the hog, all in the name of Christ.

Before these so called religious leeches just sucked off innocent believers, not so under Bush. He has given them access to our tax dollars.

They've ignored Christ's teachings. I think He may ignore them.

Remember church is a big business too. Right now its earnings are better than Exxon Mobil. No taxes either. Think about it.

7. That may be true for the Roman Catholic church because of size
but "The Church" in this country is split into literally thousands of pieces. At least in mainline churches, the money is spent on operations and aid to those in need.

On the other hand, I don't know about the megachurches or fundamentalist ones...

2. I couldn't find it on USA Today's website.
Do you remember the name of the article, or the date? Was this an article, or an editorial?
