New vegan find: Dr. Praeger's California Veggie Burgers
Never heard of them before. Found at the local Wild Oats, around the same price as Amys. I'm adventurous, and I'm intrigued by the ingredients.

I admit, when I took one out of the package, it looked odd. The veggies weren't quite as "blended" as the other veggie burgers. I could see orange and green "chunks" in the burger. Okay. Tossed in a frying pan with a tiny bit of olive oil. Cooked thoroughly, had the kitchen smelling pretty good.

VERY tasty on an Ezekiel bun with some red onion, tomato and Vegenaise. Might do a little horseradish next time. Good find.

Ingredients:
Carrot, Onion, Stringbeans, Soybeans, Zucchini, Oat Bran, Peas, Spinach, Expeller Pressed Canola Oil, Broccoli, Textured Soy Flour, Corn, Oat Fiber, Red Pepper, Arrowroot, Corn Meal, Corn Starch, Garlic, Salt, Parsley, Black Pepper, All Natural Vegetable Gum

Several varieties of veggie burger, too:
"The California, Bombay, TexMex & Italian Veggie Burgers are certified Vegan."

4. I hope you can still get them there.
We last bought them there last summer. They have an annoying habit of discontinuing items, I've noticed. :hi:

5. They're also available (or were last year) at Costco in HUGE boxes.
I think a box of 24 or 48, something like that.

14. That's where I got them too.
Haven't looked recently to see if they're still carrying them.

6. d00d, you ate something with carrots in it.
/me checks for the stem at the base of the neck, suspecting aliens have replaced her boyfriend with an eerily similar replica

11. We tried them today...

I'm going with 3 of 5 stars. And that's with Daiya cheese on them.

The box had 4 patties in it and they were pretty small. Taste wise they're OK but not something I'd spend that much money on again.

12. Yeah, I'm not a fan.
If I want this sort of chopped-up, low-protein, veggie-only burger, I find the Don Lee Farms ones (Costco carries them) to be far superior. They fry up really nicely and they're not bad baked in the oven, either.

OT: I didn't realize at first you had bumped an old post, so when I read the replies to the thread I thought LeftyMom was back posting at DU again. :(

13. Sorry for the confusion...
I was posting my review when I noticed that Mr. Vegan had beat me to it. What I didn't notice was how much time had passed since he posted his review.

16. I have seen them at my local Ingles supermarket
in my neighborhood here in North Georgia. I was reluctant to try them because I have always bought Morningstar products. But I'll pick them up on my next visit to Ingles.
