Hope I did the right thing
Today I purchased an IMac G5, I hope I did the right thing. The reason I like an IMAC, it is all in one. I'm leaving IMac 9.2 to 10.

The last few months I've had many problems with my software because of compatbility issues. The ten should handle all the problems.

Did I make a mistake?

1. I am VERY envious!
Congratulations. Now you can stop using Internet Explorer and start using Safari or Firefox.

Good move. You won't regret it.

4. We're here to help...free of charge!
Both browsers are good. Naturally Apple's going to suggest Safari since it's their own product. Personally, I use Firefox as my default browser. The Mac world is probably split down the middle between the two.

The only thing I can advise you to do is to get more RAM for it. . .at least 512, more if you can afford it -- life will be smoother for you. . .I believe you can install that yourself with no problem.

5. I am going with the basic
what I did like is this can become wireless although I don't know how to do the wireless with cable.

I'm going to give this computer to my daughter, just need to download a new IE for her.

6. Wireless with cable
Instead of plugging your Ethernet cable into your computer's Ethernet port, plug it into your Airport base station.

I forget the details of adjusting the settings on the Airpot base station, but there's probably a tutorial somewhere in Mac Help, and if that doesn't tell you what you need, go to the "genius bar" at the nearest Apple Store for free help.

7. IE comes with os X. But get Firefox or use Safari

I'd be afraid that IE, even on a Mac, would still be susceptible to the same exploits that it is on windows. And the other two browsers are SO supperior to IE that it would be like going back a decade to use it.

BTW I bought the iMac G5 about six weeks ago, my first mac after so many years on windows. I love this machine. It's design is perfection, it's quiet (something I always hoped for but had given up on). And OS X has been so easy to adjust to. Never going back. You made the right choice.
