firgging stinking iTUnes
trying to get iTunes running on a G5.

it installs, and launches nothing but a greyed-out partial File Menu (just "iTUnes" and "Help).

I removed every file on the system with "iTunes in the name and reinstalled. Now it doesn't even give me the greyed-out menu.

1. What version of iTunes and what version of the OS are you using?

3. OS X 10.3.9
Downloaded iTunes 7.3.2 from Apple

Earlier, when the download would not run, I also tried installing an older version from the iLife disk, but it wouldn't even install.

5. I've heard of version 7.3.2 causing problems for people on other boards
It also seems like the order in which software gets updated makes a difference.

Here's what I would do:

1) Trash iTunes from the Applications Folder. Empty the trash

2) Restart

3) Repair Permissions from the Disk Utility app

4) Run the software update. Make sure everything EXCEPT iTunes is updated, especially Quicktime

5) If anything was updated, restart and run Repair Permissions again.

6) Download an older version of iTunes from: http://oldapps.com/download_iTunes_mac.php
I'm using 7.0.2, others have had good luck with 7.2

7) Install, restart, and repair permissions again.

2. Just as Important
What other music file programs do you have on your system?

I've known lots of people who have Napster and others that erase files needed.

4. To my knowledge I have nothing of the sort
I do run Pro Tools on this machine, but no file swapping software

I'll check though

Thanks
