i have been so "domestic" all day but didn't put a thought to dinner

I scrubbed floors, made bread, did laundry and poor Mr Ketchup is getting burgers, canned Ranch Style beans, zucchini and (the saving grace LOL) fresh bread for dinner

Breakfast for Dinner is always great in a Pinch. Or run out and get some ham and swiss and make Croque Monsieur's. Yum

Ham and Swiss dipped in egg and fried like French Toast. Sometimes dusted with powdered sugar (I think that's yuckie).

They're lovely...and far too easy to do. They just sounded so good made with your fresh bread.

That's the American name. There's also one with Turkey and cheese that has a cutesy name too. They are so good. I don't eat much bread and I generally don't keep in around too much but those sandwichs are treats I will make exceptions for to my no white flour rule. (No they are not the same with Wheat, Rye, Pumpernicle whatever flour--It has to be a good quality White bread)

H2S LOVES French toast with maple syrup for supper, but I don't like sweets as a meal.

You could even do it with some cream cheese mixed with Pesto on Italian Bread. Sounds Yummy

I also just love stuffed french toast with Cream cheese and Jelly, or cream cheese and bananas.

You could also do an Elvis with peanut butter and bacon.

Actually, the variations are endless.

I've done grilled brie and tomatoes (copying something I had at a restaurant once), but the French toast thing adds a whole different dimension...

Do you have to change the basic French toast formula (I use 6 eggs to 1 cup milk) and do you dip the whole thing as a sandwich, or fry the two breads and then make a sandwich?

I used to make this disgusting-sounding thing I got from Woman's Day magazine decades ago, called "peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in custard." You make the sandwiches, put them in a baking dish, and basically pour French toast mixture over them. I thought it was good! (I suggested it to H2S and the idea didn't go over real well.)

I know, but I was home all darn day and did a "20 Minute Meal"

I found a can of white hominy in the cupboard and did Lemon Pepper/Curry on the veggies so Mr. K was happy
