OK... I got the Kim Chee
Thanks to this thread I'm expanding my food horizons:

I'm a little nervous about this stuff. I like spicy but is this stuff gonna burn my mouth out? The bottle says to be careful when opening as it may bubble up. I'm not going to try the stew until we taste it first.

I'm :scared:

I'm gonna feed it to the SO first.....

2. That stuff is HOT!
My dad was stationed in Korea back in the early '60s. He loved this stuff but it is scary HOT.:scared: :grr:

Wear rubber gloves and a face mask when opening that stuff.

3. It depends on what you have
Some of it is a backup rocket fuel while some is no hotter than a run of the mill salsa.

Be careful at first, though, if you're sensitive to culinary heat.

4. Expect it to be HOT.
It's only unpleasant if it's an ugly surprise.

Don't forget that the heat will be diluted by the stew.

Enjoy!

(oh, and the bubbles are due to the fermentation process, something that still occurs at a very low level in the jar)

5. I couldn't get passed the smell
I tried a bite but it smelt like feet to me even after I let it air out. I did take about a third of the bottle and mixed it in to a stir fry of bok choy and onions. SO loved it (I had to add extra hot chili paste to it for his taste) He's having the left overs tomorrow over rice. I'll add some chicken to it for him as well. I'm glad to know it won't be wasted but I won't got there again.

7. Well, Certainly not MY feet
But the way I would imagine bad smelling feet would smell. Kinda funky. I aired it out a bit and the smell dissipated. My husband ate a bunch of it last night. I spoke with him an hour ago and he's still alive so I would imagine it was a "good" batch. He had alot of gas last night but he ate alot of bok choy with the kim chee so it was a double dose of cabbage plus onions. He's getting more of it tonight with chicken.

I actually thought it tasted better when it had time to "air" out a bit and at room temp. I can't say I'm going to be craving the kim chee real soon but it was interesting.
