Ever tried to make your own sun-dried tomatoes?

I think I'm gonna try it. It doesn't seem too hard. Especially now that it is getting warmer and the days are longer.

I just love sundried tomatoes. Can't get enough of 'em. :bounce: :D And they are ridiculously expensive to buy.

1. I might chance them

but I live in the high desert where the summer sun is intense, humidity at the arid level, and flying insects practically nonexistent.

I would still make 2 wooden frames covered with screen and dry the slices between them, just in case.

The last thing I want in my sun dried tomatoes is fly eggs.

Other than that, if I had room, I'd be tempted to get one of those Ronco dehydrators. They work beautifully.

2. I've done it with the little grape tomatoes

Pretty yum.
