Ever burn or cut yourself but don't remember doing it?
I've got a painful blister on my finger---it's clearly a burn, a fresh one at that.

I baked some cookies tonight (yep, it's exam time) but I don't remember actually hitting the oven rack or the ridge of the pan...

I've ended up with nicks and cuts like this, too--a nick the exact shape of the end of the vegetable peeler on my left thumb, for instance.
It's *weird*.

Do I just end up getting some sort of cooking adrenalin that keeps me from noticing these things?

1. I do that all the time
Sometimes it's obviously from cooking. Other times it's probably from my cat.

Other times...? No idea.

3. I do that a lot but....
I have incomplete spinal cord injury and lack protective sensation in my extremities. I keep the Bandaid people solvent.

6. Yep, except I remember it

The minor ones I've forgotten.

The more major ones were two-fold. One, I was working at a deli and cleaning a slicer and sliced the back of one of my fingers (power was off, but I got cut nonetheless).

Second, and worse, I was working at a restaurant and they had some ovens I didn't normally use. Industrial ovens, probably used for baking (I no longer recall), and convection, but the thing was that they had connected doors - open the right and the left was rigged to open as well. Same for closing. I didn't know this. One day I went to close them for some reason - maybe they were just in the way (I don't recall), so I closed the right and the left side also closed, but upon my arm, making for a serious burn. Years later, I have no scar, but it was friggin painful at the time.

No matter what you do, make a point to get the burn wound immediately under cold water; you'd be surprised at what that can do to mitigate any problems.
