Looking for good curry sauces (recipes)

I'm looking for a good way to make a curry sauce. I love curry ( mm mm, curry ) and I thought I would try to make it at home ( with the economy and me (I?) being a broke (nicht geld) student). Any curry recipes welcome also, though I do not eat beef, except in tacos 1ce a month. or pork ( I think I have a thing about eating mammals. Smells good, tastes disgusting ) birds are OK. Chicken mostly, or tofu, or veggies ( mm mm, veggies) which I will devour.

1. Cook book not available,
but I've used an old James Beard curry sauce recipe for years. VERY simple, and can be used for every thing! Hope I don't forget anything:

saute cut up onion, celery, garlic (any other aromatic veg too) and apple. Use O Oil or butter or whatever. Bay leaf. Add liquid from can of tomatoes (I use stewed toms, and as necessary I add some of the cut up toms.) Add curry powder to taste (1-3 t.), and salt. Add water if necessary. Stir, etc, and serve with/on whatever, cooked bird (left over chicken/turkey whatever.) I serve with plain yogurt, chutney, raisins, and rice.

Have fun!

2. I like this site
I love Indian food, but have had to scrounge around to learn my way around it. This site promised a series of curries, but so far only has a couple of spice combos. The rest of the site is pretty nice for getting acquainted with the different cuisines and of course, a majority is vegan. :)

My only warning is to eat before you look, so you don't go mad for something that you can't cook immediately. I went on a frustrating expedition that covered three towns before I could even start my garam masala.
