Bread crisis - any experts here?
My neighbor just called and asked if she can somehow add water to loaves of french bread that are already on their second rise. She's decided the dough is too dry and from her description, it sounds like it probably IS too dry. (I'm not sure why she's asking me - she's been baking bread a lot longer than I have and a lot better most of the time, too!)

I've never tried to moisten dough that's already risen, been pounded down and is rising again. I have absolutely no idea what to tell her. I tried telling her to just go ahead and bake it and give it to the chickens, but she needs bread for tonight.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate them.

Thanks!

1. Tell her to bake it as is
and if it sucks, feed the chickens. Then she's still got time to make Irish soda bread for supper.

2. Thanks, Warpy!
That's what she did. It should be coming out of the oven in a few minutes. We'll see how it comes out, but I'm bringing her a loaf from my freezer just in case. :)
