What's for dinner? ~ Monday the 16th Edition
I'm having a bit of discomfort so I'm going to probably go with eggs or something soft. Which I love anyway, so it's all good. :)

Bill will be doing Chinese again and fresh egg rolls.

What's for dinner where you are?

1. I bought some "flanken"
...the other day. My nephew loves this cut of beef, and I found some on sale -- he is staying here for several weeks. He usually cooks it briefly on the grill, which seems counterintuitive as it is not known to be a tender cut. They are very well marbled, though, so who knows? I could use the grill pan -- don't want to BBQ on a rainy blustery day.

Hmm. Sides. Dunno. I used all the taters the other day.

I wonder about making the flanken German style, simmered, and then making some sweet-sour red cabbage and some dumplings to go along. Or maybe just some buttered noodles.

I'll think.

3. Bill did a beefy noodle sort of stroganoff thing for lunch today that rocked
So I'd vote for noodles. :D

8. flanken?
I've never heard of it... this?

Short ribs come in 2 different cuts, flanken (long and skinny) and English style (long and thick).

2. Leftover Monday!
Thank goodness Bill loved that pot of beans last night. That means no cookin' for the next two night! :woohoo:

I wish you would feel better. Is this a normal thing for you, like it cycles around every so often?

4. Yup. Normal and permanent. I'm still trying to figure it all out.
I should (and will) be able to manage it better, but it's only going to get worse over time. I'm happy as a clam otherwise, and I'm still alive and shouldn't be, so it's all good. :)

Glad Bill is loving the beans. That does make life easier. :)

7. Well...I made a rye crepe batter to begin my experiements and
I think the batter sucks, so I probably won't cook it. My theory is that if it doesn't taste good raw, it's not likely to get any better.

I made up one of my own that looks nothing like any crepe batter I've seen. At the very least it tastes MUCH better than the "real" recipe , so far anyway...

Wish me luck.....

9. More turkey barley soup from the freezer
After dealing with non-starting car, I don't have the energy for anything else.

I could go for a hot bowl of soup right now. It's getting cool again here tonight.

10. still fighting a cold here
I had leftover lentil burgers mixed with brown rice and veggies (spinach and corn).
It's my own little favorite rice bowl concoction.
The boys chose what they ate tonight. they had frozen gnocchi, veggie corndogs and broccoli.

12. I don't know if you take supplements but
either zinc, or foods high in zinc could help knock the cold out.
I have a friend who swears by vegetarian hot and sour soup.

Feel better!
