1. A liddle too precious for me ......
The knife style handle causes me to say that.

Do you have a Home Goods near you?

Precious? Do you mean cutesy? I did see a Cuisinart 5.5 qt. on craigslist today for $40, only lightly used, but Cuisinart stuff seems so cheaply made these days. I dunno.

6. We have some of the older style Cuisinart from when it was highly rated
The stuff I see from Cuisinart today is not attractive to me. It does seem to have been cheapened ..... except they added heavy cast handles, a la All Clad.

7. Friday I'm going to drive by
the restaurant supply where Bill got my peel. I want to look for a cambro but I'm going to check out what they have in the way of saute pans. If they're too spendy, I'll peak into Tuesday Morning and see what they have lying about.

8. Are you looking for a saute pan like that?
Straight sides, about 3" deep. 5 qt?

I have seen the Tramontina version of that at Home Goods. Sears also carries some Tramontina, but I'm not sure they carry the tri-ply line.

You might also keep an eye on Ruby Tuesday. Marshall's also has it from time to time.

9. I even looked at fantes.com
and couldn't find one. (That is the hardest site to navigate. Sheesh!) I get the feeling they will be outta my league pricewise, tho.

3. How big is it?
I don't see any size for it, which is weird.

I see this: Product Dimensions: 49.5 x 24.5 x 6.5 inches - but I don't think this is a four-foot saute pan, do you?

I'd look around. I have Sabatier knives which I love, but I know nothing about their cookware.

I can't buy cookware I can't touch. My own special madness.

I found this, though - http://www.pfaltzgraff.com/Stainless-Steel-Sautepan-w/Lid-and-Helper-Handle/F1972900,default,pd.html?cgid=kitchen_cookware&AID=10655063&PID=1609763&SID=tfc_-_3_1_090325_005b765106ada3f824668e6ad5f4c1dc

Is it the same, do you think? Better price, and if you order it by tomorrow, here's a coupon for 10% off - http://www.bradsdeals.com/pfaltzgraff-coupons-mid-873.html

I loves the google, don't you?

4. That's exactly the same pan.
It does say the same brand in the description but that ad also has omitted the size. Weird. Think I'll just skip it. Thanx!

5. It's mighty pretty.

I'm no help on "good deal or not" issues. If I want something I try and find it at the best price, and then I enjoy it. I spent 1200+ on my induction cooktop and love it. To someone else it would be freakishly wrong.

I'm of the "have less, but good quality" school of thought.

10. Are those handles oven safe?
If not, look for somebody else's signature.

11. Yeah, I don't know...
I'll spend $20 without thinking about it, but when I get into $60 to $100 cookware items I want them to last a lifetime - and a good one is worth it - for instance I don't remember what I paid for my chef's knife but I'll have it forever. And my Le Creuset stuff I'll have forever unless I trash them (like my little sauce pot, may it requisat in pace). This seems a bit unknown. I don't know - have you tried it? Does it have some decent heft to it?
