Top 10 Lavish Ballpark Foods
10)
The Schmitter - Citizens Bank Park Philadelphia, PA

9)
Pierogies - Progressive Field, Cleveland, OH

The cheese and potato-filled dumplings are served with sour cream and sautéed onions on the side. Try them plain or add Cleveland’s own Bertman’s Ballpark Mustard. The brown mustard is a must for most Cleveland faithful.

8)
Primanti Bros. Sandwich - PNC Park, Pittsburgh, PA

Yeah, sure, meat is good. Fries are good. And coleslaw is good. And naturally, they all need to be eaten in a single meal, but who has time to mess around with a fork? (and it's seven inches tall)

7)
Cannoli - Citi Field, New York, NY

These little pastries from Leo's Latticini, a famous sandwich shop in Carona, NY, don the Mets blue and orange colors.

6)
Gilroy Garlic Fries - AT&T Park, San Francisco, CA

Crispy fries paired with a heavy dose of fresh minced garlic and parsley.

5)
Ybor City Cuban - Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, FL

The Cuban sandwich: smoked ham, pork, salami, Swiss cheese, dill pickle and mustard, all on warm Cuban bread.
(unfortunately the Columbia restaurant no longer operates a stand at Tropicana Field)

4)
Rocky Mountain Oysters - Coors Field, Denver, CO

They are fried bull testicles that you dip in cocktail sauce.

At Coors Field, home of the Rockies, they hardly sell any of these

3)
Sonoran Hot Dog - Petco Park, San Diego, CA

The Sonoran hot dog is wrapped in bacon, stuffed with onions, tomatoes, and pinto beans, and served on a potato bun, then topped with mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, and of course – jalapeno sauce.

2)
Ivar's Salmon Sandwich - Safeco Field, Seattle, WA

A 1/2-pound piece of pink salmon on a baked organic roll.

1)
BBQ Stuffed Baked Potato - Minute Maid Park, Houston, TX

A ginormous baked potato buried in cheese, loaded down with sweet pulled pork meat, doused in barbecue sauce, smothered in onions, and topped with jalapeno peppers.

1. That Primanti Bros sandwich in Pittsburgh ought to be declared a health hazard.
That needs to come with a side of nitro tabs ... and maybe Plavix and Zocor, too.

11. Question...

Are the fries infused with garlic, or are they regular fries tossed with garlic?

15. I don't think they're infused, just tossed with a whole bunch
It's intense! In a good way.

17. No, they sound great

Just was wondering how they did them.

It sounds like if you're with your spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend though, you'd want to make sure both of you are eating them. Otherwise there'll be precious little kissing going on.

19. LOL, that's for sure. They throw the token parsley in though
But the ratio is clearly not such that it has any chance in hell of helping.

I guess they do it so they can visualize the garlicky stuff better.

6. There was nothing like brats at County Stadium in Milwaukee
...Smothered in delicious sweet-hot German mustard on a chewy brat bun. Nothing overstated like the 'food' above, but perfect for a ballgame -- especially if you had 3 or 4 with as many beers. :9

Haven't tried the brats at the new stadium yet... I wonder if they still have a beer pipeline from the Miller brewery at the new place? :D

13. Since most folks are sitting in
seats that are pretty close together in a ball park, with no table or drop tray on them, I would think the goal would be to make the food a little more convenient to eat.

14. And just as a cynical observation
Edited on Thu Apr-09-09 02:57 PM by Tab
I'd think a bull would have bigger testicles.

Granted, I've never looked too closely myself (at bulls, I mean).

On edit: Maybe that's why they're so cranky.

20. I love pirogies, and that Cuban looks good
Look away if you are on Lipitor...

I love pirogies, sauteed until golden brown and sort of crispy, in a cast iron skillet with enough butter to ..."carmelize" that crispiness....if I am really hungry and have been deprived and good about what I have eaten for months, this is my secret, no one around to watch eat the entire bag burn in hell meal......Hurt your feelings kind of good.

As for ball park food, gimme a brats or a good weiner and I am happy. (do NOT go toward the double entendre...step away from the double entendre)
