9. Hey, just got released from medical prison

I came here to update, but I see elleng already posted a link to the cancer forum which I got to first.

I'll be back on a limited basis, but hopefully not too limited for long. A little loaded up with pain pills right now to be overly productive or contributive, but I have a limited supply and once this starts to heal, I should be in less pain and feeling better.

What sucked, though, was that I couldn't have any foor OR DRINK for the first four days - yes, not even water. Then liquids only for the next six days. Only in the last two did they allow me to have actual food (as actual as it gets there).

I don't mind not eating, but it sucks when you can't even drink liquids. You're on IV so you don't dehydrate, but anything - water, ice - much less apple juice - anything for your throat. They need you to talk, but they don't give you anything to wet your pipes.

Oh, well.

They think they got most of it, but there was at least one cancerous lymph node, so it will come back some day, in the meantime I will need chemo still. Maybe six monthes of chemo - I don't know, I meet with the oncologist in a few weeks.

I'm going to have to go back into consulting unless I can find a local job, because this just impacts my time too arbitrarily.

But at least I'm alive, and I feel stronger (during the hours that I'm not medicated, and am rested up).

Not being able to drink would REALLY hurt me; I constantly have water/ice with me, wherever I am. Glad you were able to survive!

I lost my Mum to colon cancer. It was undetected for too long. (more like ignored by her 'doctor)
