Communication: basic American Sign Language ... .
I just wanted to let you know there is a program on PBS called Signing Time. For folks getting Houston PBS, it comes on Sunday mornings. It is half an hour of playful instruction and singing, beautiful children signing, etc. You can practice your rudimentary skills with this show. They also have a website http://www.SigningTimeKids.org.

My autistic son first learned to communicate using basic signs. Children who learn to communicate earlier with signing do not usually have any delay in speech development and some may develop speech faster.

In Maine it comes on Sat mornings. I already posted back to your post in the other group, but wanted to mention how much we enjoy this show here also. My boys, ages 3 and 2, all know some signs from watching this show and as a result communication with my twins has been much easier.

on edit: left out a word
