What is using all your HD space?
Edited on Fri Jul-08-11 02:48 PM by ChromeFoundry
I recently re-found this application and thought I share it with other users (Windows only, see below for Linux).

http://windirstat.info/">WinDirStat is a numeric and graphical disk usage statistics viewer and cleanup tool for Microsoft Windows.
Quickly lets you determine what is eating up your hard drive space...

Here is the Linux version this application was modeled after: http://kdirstat.sourceforge.net/">KDirStat
And here is a similar app for the Mac OS users: http://www.derlien.com/">Disk Inventory X

1. Ubuntu ships with a decent disk usage analyzer, apparently aka baobab
It seems to be available in the debian repositories; in arch, it's available via AUR

4. Oh THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
I've been using Visdir, which is clunky as all hell. WinDirStat going directly into my post-install essentials folder and I'm recommending it to all my friends and people who come to me for computer help.

Holy CRAP, thank you! :yourock:

5. A lot of my coworkers are working on obsolete XP machines ca. 2004 that have never been wiped..
Edited on Sat Aug-13-11 12:39 AM by TroglodyteScholar
So for about the past year I've been installing WinDirStat for them. For every person so far...once they understand what it's doing, they have to pick their jaws up off the ground. An *essential* utility for any Windows machine that's been around for a while.

Also, to answer the thread's title question...right now my XP virtual machine @ 9.2gb is taking up as much space as anything.

Edit: typo
