Upgrade help
I would like to squeeze a few more miles out of my seven year old Compaq Desk Pro 800, 256, XP Pro. To that end, I am thinking about a DVD burner and more ram.
For a burner I'm leaning toward this Samsung here. It will probably be used most often to keep my hard drive clear of mp3s in the form of music and audio books.
The ram is DIMM, SDRAM. Do I have to search down this older type, of are the newer sticks computable?

Any help, as always, will be greatly appreciated.

1. Use the Newegg Memory Configurator
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductConfigurator.aspx?plf=10&category=17&name=Memory%2DConfigurator

I'm pretty sure your Compaq uses PC133 but I couldn't locate the model by your description. What I found was here:

I think your burner selection will do you fine.

2. Thanks.
Just wanted to be sure that the cable from my DVD-CD Rom would plug right into the burner. Finding that kind of thing out too late has been happening to me more and more these days. I guess the ram will have to wait. Thanks again.

4. Be sure to get a PATA
and not a SATA model Samsung burner to insure compatability with your motherboard.
