Does anyone have any experience with Verizon's FIOS (fiber optics) internet service?
especially in comparison with Comcast?

If so, I'd like to know how you compare the two.

Thanks for any advice.

1. Here's something I've been following with interest for the past several days.

It pertains to Verizon's quality of service in the Tampa Bay area with specific regard to FiOS. Some of the comments compare them to other carriers like ComCast and BrightHouse. I'd say for the most part most people responding would prefer service from BrightHouse. Service in other locales could be better, could be worse. Looks like their worst area of service is in billing and customer service. I can say from previous personal experience that they rolled out DSL the same way. None of their people knew much about it but they put out a great effort to sell it anyway.

2. I have had Fios
for a couple years now. Almost no outages, blazing fast, and no sharing like cable users. Customer support is not what it should be but i have never had to call them except in the very beginning. I recently upgraded to the 15/15 package and all i can say is DAMN.

4. Interesting ...

Not too long ago they claimed they stopped doing this, using an interestingly worded explanation that seem to say they were no longer doing something they never had been doing.

I only use torrents to download *nix distributions or other large blobs of that variety, and I have noticed some problems that look like dropped packets. I've kinda chalked it up to a general problem with the connections, because I sometimes had similar problems with Cox (I hate it that I actually miss their service now that I'm forced to deal with Comcast), but not to the same extent.

Makes me want to move to Huntsville so I can get Cox again.
