Unfortunately I was already dripping with PC slime.
Later I bought a used Amiga with a fairly complete video package, including Amiga's interesting implementation of a gen-lock type system. Basically you could sync the Amiga with an external video source which is why it was very popular for low-budget video production. The mac and the P.C. didn't have anything like that -- their video implementations were conventional and very very EXPENSIVE.
I've kept the Amiga because I couldn't let it go, but it's another one of those computers I can emulate well enough for memory's sake under Debian:
