Do I need these Microsoft programs?
I'm not a programmer or developer.

* Microsoft Visual C++ 2005

* Microsoft XML Parser and SDK

* Microsoft .NET Framework

I've tried to research XML, but it is Hungarian to me.

Thanks in advance.

1. You will probably need...
the Microsoft .Net Frameworks.

Visual C++, would only be needed if it is the Redistributable Runtime.

Doubtful you will need the XML Parser and SDK.

2. the .Net is only needed if you are running programs that require it
I know, not too helpful. But for example, I wanted to run a certain driver scanner once (it makes a list of all your drivers and backs them up) but the program was written with a .Net framework, so I could only use the program after installing the .net on my computer. Otherwise, I've never needed it.

So, it depends.

The others are probably more for programmers/developers (sdk = software development kit)

3. C++ and the SDK are only needed if you are going to write your own software.
Leave the .NET framework.

You can delete the XML Parser

4. I had two versions of .NET
1.1 and 2.1, IIRC. I've already removed the more recent one. I don't think I ever need it. I think I'll uninstall the 1.1, and let Windows update give me the latest next time. I realized that Windows update was giving me updates for the XML, so removing that will save time and space.

Thanks to everyone!
