Is this Uniblue Registry Cleaner worth the $29? They do a scan
for free but want to charge you to take the stuff off.

My cursor keeps jumping around and it pisses me off. I had to type this post twice because it jumped and highlighted and erased all by itself.

Thanks in advance.

1. I use a free cleaner
http://www.ccleaner.com/ .

Also use the windows one care, which takes about five hours to run.
You might want to start with it since your issue may be virus or malware related.

I can't recommend the one you link because I don't have any experience with it.

2. Thanks Syzgy I just started the windows download. It says
it is a free trial but I suppose that is ok for now. And I forgot about CCleaner. It was deleted when my hard drive was re-formatted.

3. The Onecare free trial
is a complete program, though. It WILL remove stuff and fix the registry. The paid version has some other features, and can be run without Internet connection (I assume). I've never bothered to look into the purchase. I had an issue with my system tray. It wouldn't save my configuration on reboot. Onecare completely fixed it the first time. Last time, it also caught a couple of things amiss in the registry entries for system restore. Other programs may not have that ability.

7. I ended up buying the RegiBlu because the windows didn't find any
problem and Regiblue found aver 100. I don't know what they off but my cursor problem is still here. It felt good to get a bunch of off the computer. Even Norton never says it never found anything.

Anyone know about this cursor problem? I had to re-at least 8 times while typing this.

Firefox or IE? Have you tried updating the driver for the mouse? Is the PC a brand name?
XP or Vista?

11. It's a lap top. How do you update the driver for the mouse?
It's an HP Pavilion. HP has already replaced almost the entire thing because it got so hot the keys melted. It's Vista

http://www.jv16.org/

Small and lightweight.

*Install and select Tools ->Registry CleanUp -> Do Them All
(does its thing)
*Select All
*Remove Selected

Spybot-SD exposed Uniblue as spyware on my puter a couple yaers ago IIRC.

13. Spybot says it is only a free download and I know that means you
pay after it scans and tells you how much it will cost to remove the viruses etc.

And I ended up downloading stopzilla and it said the same damn thing. I have to pay $39.00 and I will get a #30 rebate. It caught some spyware but I think they will all catch spyware because that is how they sell the damn thing.

it's one hundred percent free. You must have been referring to a different program.
Here is the link.

16. Free download ...

That's what it means sometimes. You have to do the research on it.

By coming here, you have. People *here* are generally not going to point a person to the "free to download/expensive to use" software.

Spybot is 100% free. No nag screens, no nothing. There's a menu option for donations if you want, but you never have to donate.

9. Sorry that you got suckered into paying for some useless scamware, but the cursor
problem is likely to be related to a hardware or hardware driver fault. Try another mouse, or unplug and replug the one you are using. Sometimes a bad keyboard can mess up mouse actions.

10. This reviewer indicates it isn't malware
Edited on Sat Mar-28-09 03:46 AM by Why Syzygy
Update from David Risley on 12/7/07

This review was written in 2006 and we gave this program positive marks (as you will see as you read on). Since then, we have seen a lot of user comments with negative feedback regarding the “free scan” not properly uninstalling from the computer. We specifically asked the company about this issue in an interview with Uniblue. They said the problem has been fixed, and they gave an explanation why it was occurring. Also, we independently checked the free scan here at PCMech since the interview and we have had no issues removing it from our systems.

In my experience, those people who are claiming that Registry Booster is malware and will not uninstall are not that computer literate themselves. In our tests, it DOES remove easily and causes no harm to our test computers. There are differing opinions out there on how effective the software is, but I am confident (at this point) that there is nothing dangerous about their free scan. People need to realize that ANY program that affects the Windows registry has the possibility of messing something up. That is why it is SO important to back up your registry before running any scanning software, whether it be Registry Booster or something else.
http://www.pcmech.com/article/uniblue-registry-booster-review/

That said, I wouldn't personally purchase or recommend it.
I've been using this guy's programs for a decade >
http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm
He writes very lightweight programs (I think in one of the older programming languages).
The Easy Cleaner, CCleaner, Windows OneCare and now especially Revo Uninstaller, keep my Registry in good shape.

And, as ConsAreLiars posted, at this point suspect hardware issue.
