I am so frustrated. Windows Defender & Everything Else...
Okay... It started a few days ago... I turn on my toshiba satellite and I get the message that the defender interface has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.

Then I get the message that toshiba flash cards has experienced a problem and needs to shut down...

So, I try to go into the performance menu in the control panel to fix it, but then that causes explorer to restart.

When I double click any picture files it causes explorer to restart, and i can't see the images.

So... I did a complete system recovery. I thought it was fixed... but now it's doing the defender thing again and I still can't open my pitures or go into the performance menu. I could at first, but now I can't.

Oh... I had 6 worms on my computer before (although not sure how norton and defender missed them) I only found them because I installed adaware.

So... Anybody got a clue as to what the hell is going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. A screen door on a submarine works better than Norton.
Get rid of Norton, download and install either Avast or AVG Free, Spybot Search & Destroy and Malwarebytes Antimalware. After installing those, turn OFF System Restore, run a complete scan, boot into Safe mode, run scans again. If everything is clean, reboot into normal mode, run one more scan of those programs-if everything is clean, turn system restore back on.

2. Sent PM ...

In response to yours, I sent a PM, but hobbit, as usual, has distilled it down to the essentials.

I tend to ramble. :)

3. I'd love to reply with what I really think
but have just had a bottle of polish honey vodka with my neighbour and prolly should not say anything till I sober up.

In a nutshell, you need to take charge of your own comp mate. Stop all the auto stuff going on and be aware of exactly which programs are running. OOoOps, wandering......

see ya RGB.....lol
