I'm using win98+, how do I get into hkeyreg?
Sometime back I loaded firefox, I didn't like it so i went back to regular windows. Aparently though, it's still in the registry in hkey, and is not letting windows operate properly.
I can't open links sent by email, or log into internet radio, yesterday when I was doing some house cleaning, I saw hkeyfirefox, I thought if I went in and deleted it i could restore the functions to my computer.
How do I get there?

What didn't you like about Firefox? Just wondering.

What you need to do is to make IE your default browser again.

(in IE)
Tools->Internet Options->Programs->Reset Web Settings

(edited for grammar)

2. Okay
Things are working right now. To answer your question, it just didn't feel right, I didn't see any advantage in firefox and I've been using this system for so long it's comfortable. Thanks for the help I'll dance at your wedding.

5. I see MANY advantages in Firefox...
>I didn't see any advantage in firefox

For me, the tabbed browsing ALONE was worth the change. Having to manage multiple windows in IE is VERY cumbersome.

Firefox also has vastly superior adware/spyware protection, built in pop-up stopper, 'extensions which support XML newsfeeds, ad blocking and many other advantages over IE that I now can't live without.

I appreciate sticking with what you're used to, however.

3. I use Win98 also and I didn't like Firefox either.
I used Firefox for about a week and that was enough
for me. I kept having memory problems too though.
Don't know why.

4. Did you uninstall Firefox from the control panel?
Did you uninstall by going to Start - Control Panel - Ad or Remove Programs? Sorry about the question if you are an advanced computer user, but your problem sounds to me like you didn't remove Firefox properly if you're getting an hkey error message when you click on links.

I would advise you not to mess with the registry file on your own. Try this free program to get rid of registry keys for programs that have already been deleted, but be very CAREFUL you don't delete things you need and back up the registry before deleting anything:
