We're all screwed now. Pic
I always said once they develop opposable thumbs our days are numbered.

This cat claimed me from the first day I moved into my current apartment. I have been feeding her on the porch since the beginning of June. She snuck in a few days ago and has made herself at home. She is sleeping on my bed right now. The other cats don't seem to have a problem with her so I guess she can stay. Oh by the way, this is Polly(polydactyl).

1. What a pretty cat...
she reminds me very much of my Cleo, who died 2 years ago. In fact, she is almost the spitting image of Cleo. Good luck with her. I'm sure that she will be a great cat and companion.

I hope this post didn't make you sad.

20. Thanks..
for your good thoughts. I wasn't sad so much as I remembered how sweet she was and how much I missed her. I think she had a stroke and she was in much pain before she died in her room. I was going to take her to the Vet the next morning, but when I went in her room the next morning, she was lying on the floor, very still. Apparently, she has died in the early morning hours. God, was that a shock. I still feel guilty for not getting her to the Vet sooner and misdiagnosing her symptoms as pain from the hip displaysure that she suffered from. And I do still cry when I think of her. Her ashes sit on my mantle along with my other cat, Foghorn, who died of Kidney failure in Feb 2004. My two angels sit together on my mantle right next to one another. It does give me comfort that they are still with me in a sense.

2. She's beautiful
Glad she has found a happy home. I have a stray I've been feeding on my front porch for a few weeks. He won't let anyone near him though. We're going to try and trap him and get him to a no-kill shelter before winter sets in.

12. I've socialized a few ferals. It takes a lot of time and persistence.
Good luck. I'm glad your thinking ahead. Winter can be very hard on cats left outdoors depending on what the climate is where you live.

3. oh-oh
She looks like she means business! Hope you prove up to snuff as a human cat slave!

Here's my latest addition, Charley (who I thought was a girl). He just walked in too, last week.

They know when it gets cold it's time to coherse the humans. Yeah for you and pretty Polly!! :bounce:

8. What a pretty kitty!
He looks fairly young, has that kitten-esque face! I love orange tabbies, they are bigtime lovers!

11. What a beauty. His eyes are like amber.
looks like he only has stripes on the legs and is solid orange on his body. That's interesting. I have a "Jackie" thought she was a "Jack".

4. Great name!
My friend used to have a polydactyl cat. Disturbing looking little paws, aren't they?

5. It amazes me every time!!!
These cats know who to go to. They KNOW who will feed them and care for them. And, in my experience, once one shows up often others follow, as if they post it somewhere out there: "Come to this home. They have good eats, a warm bed and gentle hands".

Congratulations. She chose you.

14. Thanks.
We have a ton of ferals around here. Polly has been around here for a while I talked to some neighbors and they told me she has been spayed and had her shots. Just got left behind when somebody moved. I just don't understand some people.

had a cat like that once. Loved to play with their feet.

I cut some off and she yanked the others off herself. Ya gotta love a cat like that.

9. A Hemingway cat! She's a beauty
and blue cats, from my experience, have some of the best personalities (did you know that Cornell university discovered that there is a small link between coat color and personality)?

May you have many happy years together. :toast:

10. The Cornell Study
I never heard of it. Where could I find it or a summary of it? Do you know anything about orange cats and personality traits? I'm partial to Morris type cats.

23. I think I remember reading it (or parts of it) in one of their newsletters
put out by their veterinary school  I know that they've published a book called "the cornell book of cats", and maybe there's something about it in there.

25. I have noticed over the years that about 75-80% of orange tabby
cats are MALES. And they tend to have very nice personalities. As do most tabbies, BTW.

No idea why the deficit of orange females. Maybe when they get the gene they tend to wind up calico instead?? They never taught us anything about it in vet school.

17. She's very laid back.
We used to call them "Boston Cat". Apparently there are lots of multi toed cats in the Boston area also. Have you been to Pappy's home in Key West? I was there many years ago. It was a scream. Cats everywhere.....everywhere, seemed like dozens of them. It was very cool because I always miss my cats when I go on vacation. It's always great to find a cat to pet when I'm missing my own crew.

24. I've lived in Florida 16 years and still haven't been to the Keys!
Just too busy I guess. I know what you mean, though-the last hotel I stayed in had an orange hotel cat who hung out in the lobby. It was like having a little piece of home right there in Vermont! :-)

22. I believe it.
My greys and blues were always the sweetest and most social cats - though I dearly love them all and don't have a grey or blue at the moment.
