Right now, I look like I've been in a knife fight!. How did it happen?...
...So tonight, my little Burr kitty comes up to me and wants me to pick him up, like I do 20 times a day, at a minimum. As I pick him up, he goes wild! I have no idea why. Guess it could have been something he heard on the TV, or a noise that spooked him, but who knows? Anyway, in a period of about 3/4 of a second, I now have a 2 inch cut on my arm, a deep cut in my hand, and an 8 inch cut in my leg. Nope, these aren't scratches, they are cuts, as testified by the bloody towel in my house, and the non-stop blood flow. My wife, a registered nurse, has sufficiently put on the anti-biotic gel, and I have bandages from head to toe. And to think a little 11 pound tornado could do that much damage in 3/4 of a second! Anyway, as I'm getting bandaged up, he's laying on the floor, and walking to the food bowl, totally happy, with his little voice saying, "feed me dad"!

Life with cats.... ;-)

1. Ouch
are you sure he isn't hurt anywhere and when you picked him up you touched him where it hurt? That is what is sounds like to me. Go check on him

And the best healing wishes to your arm and hands

2. We thought about that....
...and my wife did her "nurse" thing, and poked and prodded him every which way it can be done, and he was as happy as a lark as she was doing it. So that doesn't seem to be an issue. I think, for whatever reason, he just got spooked at the same time I was picking him up. It was just a coincidence. Just a good thing he didn't get my face, since I will have permanent scars on my arm and leg. But dangit, he's still a cutie pie....

3. Wow. Sorry you were attacked. I think when things like this
happen, the animal is having some sort of flashback, or maybe there's a weird energy in the room. One summer night I woke up overheated because Oscar the lard ass was sleeping right next to me. When I tried to lift the covers to move him, he hissed and attacked my head, slashing my lower jaw and neck. I must have screamed because Oscar jumped off the bed and went looking for whatever it was that attacked him. Poor boy kept coming back into the bedroom and walking around the bed, looking for a monster. He had been abused in his youth and I'm sure he still remembers it. He won't let me put both arms around him, and he gets "bitey" whenever I pet him too much.

My wound left jagged, ripped skin that bled profusely and took forever to heal. Because I never know what will trigger his memories, I make him sleep at the foot of the bed at night, but he usually sleeps somewhere else. I hope that one day he will be rid of his demons.

Anyway, I hope you get better soon. Peroxide works great. Lucky you having a nurse to take care of you.
