Need help with birds flying into my windows.
I'm posting this in several groups because I don't know if there will be much help. We have a sunroom with windows on 3 sides, one which is a big bay window. We have lots of birds around here-I suppose it's my fault because I feed them twice a week. Mostly it's mourning doves that fly into the windows and I know that they do it because they're seeing their reflections or the other birds through the opposite window. Fortunately, 99% of the time, they survive.

So, does anyone have any ideas on how to keep them from thinking the windows are a throughway? Any idea will be taken into consideration because I'm desperate. Thanks in advance.

Jo

1. Cut out some silhouettes of birds from construction paper
or cardboard and tape them to your windows - life size of course. This worked well for me in CA on the patio sliders. You can also get some decals such as people buy for holidays and try that, but the silhouettes worked well for me.

Good luck :-).

5. Silhouettes of birds of prey will work best
Most birds can recognize that and will stay away

3. Have some like the pictures below
looking out at the birds. That would help.

7. Reflective material such as mylar
It works very well at my house. It's a trick I actually learned while attending master gardener classes. I bought some mylar ribbon and attached some to suction cups, then attached the cups to the outside of the patio door. The ribbons flutter in the wind and keep the birds from hitting the window. I haven't had a dead bird on my deck since I did this. I've tried the cutouts as well, but the ribbon has been more effective.

8. All my suggestions have been posted. The window decals or the fluttering ribbon are great ideas.
I will just add one more link to check into...
