My new baby
Here's my new kitten and her mom. The picture was taken at the shelter and the mom was adopted by someone else. We named her Gracie and we've had her for three days. She is very sweet and wants to cuddle all the time. When someone isn't holding her she cries and cries until someone picks her up! Today I noticed that her poor little voice is hoarse...she was alone all day! Now she's curled on my lap sleeping happily. Poor little thing must really miss her mom.

1. She is just gorgeous!
You might try giving your kitty Rescue Remedy - it helps relieve anxiety. I used it this past week when I moved, it helps pets (and people) adjust to changes. Kitty might also like a stuffed animal to snuggle up to when you aren't home.

Have fun with kitty!

2. Thanks
What's Rescue Remedy? I've never heard of it. I have given her a stuffed animal. That was easy....I have a 4-yr-old and her whole top bunk bed is full of them. I just picked the one that felt the most like a cat. :)

11. Here is a webpage with descriptions of Bach's flower essences
for pets. <http://www.bachflower.com/Pets.htm>

I would suggest that you go with Rescue Remedy - but you could also go with either Chicory, Mimulus, Star of Bethlehem, or Walnut. Read the descriptions below and decide which best fits your kitty. I purchase my remedies at my local 'health food' store. A small bottle could be $10 - $12. You can also use these for yourself and other family members.

Rescue Remedy: This combination of 5 Essences is a "must have" for all pet owners. It is excellent when taking the pet to the vet, after a trauma, when the pet is "not quiet well," or after an accident.

Chicory: For a pet that is in constant need of attention.

Mimulus: Fear of known things, such as, strangers, sounds, new places, the vacuum cleaner, other animals etc. This includes shyness.

Star of Bethlehem: For an animal that have been through a traumatic experience, such as, attacked by another animal, been lost, being abused, moved to a new place, lost a loved person, been in an accident or other traumatic experiences.

Walnut: When changes are happening or when there need to be a change in habits. This Essence help the pet adjust to a new environment, new people or any other situation where there is a change or a need for a change. This Essences can also help a pet that is being affected by their humans emotions, Walnut protects the pet from our negative emotions.

5. Thanks
Who knows what Dad was. He must have had long hair anyway.

They called her a diluted tortoiseshell. The reason I fell in love with her was because of those colors. I had a great kitty with those same colors who was with me for 23 years.

I'll post some more pics soon as I take some.

...a diluted tortie-and-white (i.e. calico) to me. Beautiful kitten!

And 23 years for your last calico? Wow! I thought Tari (our late Balinese) had a long life at 19 years.

6. I wish
If it were up to me, I'd have a house full of cats but my husband has allergies. More than one would be too much to ask him to handle.

7. She doesn't look Siamese
but she sounds Siamese! What a little cutie! Hope she settles in soon. My Siamese has a mild case of separation anxiety and he's nearly seven. He complains when I leave in the morning and cries for joy when I return at night.

You have an Oriental mix there, prepare to be really loved!

10. I never had a Siamese
or even been around one. So they're vocal, are they? I've heard they are a little crazy sometimes. This should be interesting.

She won't be too awful lonely once she adjusts, I don't think; I only work part-time so she won't be alone too much.

13. Is your other cat
an Abyssinian? I love them! I think they are the most beautiful cats. What are their personalities like?

16. Lily is an Abby mix
her mother was an Abby ownded by a co-worker of mine and her father was a brown tabby. Abbys are Orientals too, although not with as an assertive personality (or voice) as the Siamese.

She is a super cat, sweet, loyal and affectionate, though shy around strangers. Abbys make great pets. She's 14 now but still healthy and doing well.

8. Aww, what a cute little baby....
She's probably got separation blues, from her mom...my kittens cry if one is out of sight of the other, and they are still together! We will separate them the end of the month when one goes home to his new pal in Pittsburgh.

Rescue Remedy is from Bach's (flower essences) it really works to calm animals. You can get it at any health food store.

Good luck with your kitty, she's adorable.

9. Good, I'll look today
I googled it and read about it. Sounds like good stuff. Actually, I could have used it last weekend when my husband was driving me around a bunch of steep, mountain roads with no guard rails! I'll have to save some for myself!
