How did a kitten that was this cute end up to be such a pain in the ass?

I mean . . . he's a great cat and all, but for that past 3 weeks, he's been a royal pain in the ass. He yowls at me incessantly. I don't think there's anything wrong with him, he has plenty of energy, he eats all his meals, drinks water, uses litterbox fine, etc. He's just yowling and being a pain in the ass.

He starts chasing Althea at 4 in the morning, wakes me up and then as soon as he knows I'm awake, sits in the hallway and yowls at me.

I'm going to jump out of bed and pour a pitcher of icewater on his head one morning.

Actually, I think I'm going to watch him closely and every time he goes to sleep I'm going to poke him with a stick and yowl in his ear. That ought to do the trick . . . well, maybe not, but it'll make be feel better.

1. You are still in training as a cat slave
He is being patient but after all, he is exercizing his ability to show you who is boss. As a cat slave he noted that you are sleeping at inappropriate times, i.e., night.

He loves you and is patient, so he will continue to train you even though you express some resistance.

3. Sadly, that just results in a WET yowling cat
Mine doesn't like me sleeping past 3:30 either, and starts a lot of nonsense which I've detailed here before.

Lots of folks suggested a spray bottle, which merely results in a WET cat, who STILL wants you to be awake when she's awake (she is cute though, ET, with that dear fluffy little face)

5. Beautiful!
Blue becomes him. He really is a beautiful cat. But he's a cat's cat, if you know what I mean.

12. No, it's not professional, I took it myself :)
It's just a matter of having the right lighting more than anything else.

10. this kitty looks just like my Norman!
Normy's a sweetie - always lookin' for love.

As for the naughty kitten, I have never met an undesirable cat behavior that a squirt pistol couldn't break!

16. well you haven't met abbie...
when he is being bad (all the time) and i squirt him with a water pistol, he just looks at me like "pardon?" and proceeds to keep doing his thing. i have just laid on the trigger before and soaked him and still nothing.

i have found that a short blast of canned air on his backside kind of throws him off a little.

14. True, but...
...wouldn't you say that must be a Universal Cat Experience?

9. So true.
I used to squirt my cat Teddy with a plant mister when he woke me up too early in the morning, and he'd just stand there on the bed with water dripping off his whiskers and HOWL. He did not go away; he did not stop pestering -- he just got wet and kept hollering. But he's older now, so his younger roommate, Milo, has taken up the cause. Teddy now sleeps on my desk, and I wake HIM up.

6. Thank you for a great laugh!
Rarely do I spewed at the computer screen, but the wet cat comment got me!

IMHO cats who wake very early and are disruptive need more exercise/stimulation during the day...

Comments I made on another thread about possible solutions for Patiod:

11. my cat does this when he is hungry in early AM
do you feed Quinn and let him consume it all at one time, or do you let him graze? Maybe he's going through an adolescent growth spurt, he is about 13 now, right? (in people years) Teenagers?!

I try to leave a few tasty morsels out for the boyz before I go to bed, and all is calm. Otherwise they do the same thing, pawing the bedroom door like they are about to starve to death.

Thankfully my posse responds to 'stop it!!'

He is a gorgeous orange boy by the way, guess it's hard to be mad at him, no matter what he does.

15. Being a pain in the ass is part of being a cat
Cute little kittens always grow up to be pains in the ass, especially when spoiled.

17. He knows he's damn cute..
He's been indulged too much. That's the problem with gorgeous kittens with glorious manes, they have been ooo'd and ahhh'd over so much they get swelled heads.

Looks like in the picture he is trying desperately not to laugh. :)
