Attn: Northern VA dog guardians: Charity Dog wash this saturday!
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 01:10 PM by ehrnst
The rescue group I'm with is having a dog wash this weekend in Arlington. We hope to be up to our elbows is soapy, happy dogs!

Here's the info, if you (or anyone you know) is nearby:

Where: Fur-Get Me Not Pet Care
4140 South Four Mile Run Dr.
Arlington, VA 703.933.1935

Suggested Donation: $10
Benefiting Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, Inc.

Not only will your pooch get a good scrubdown and some special gifts from local merchants, your ten-spot will support the life-saving work of Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, Inc, a non-profit organization based in Arlington, VA with foster homes throughout VA, MD and DC.

The first 50 dogs get a special goodie bag, so get there early!

We rescue dogs, cats and small animals from rural Virginia and West Virginia shelters, where their chances of finding homes are slim - sometimes hours before they are to be euthanized. Once in our care, we find these animals permanent, loving homes in the DC metro area. You’ll be able to meet a few of our rescue dogs at the dog wash!

(and I'll let you know how it goes!)

1. Very good turnout for the dog wash!!!
Despite some bad weather, we had a steady stream of dogs!

Some things we learned:

1. The clients of the doggie daycare/petsitting/petwalking business that donated their facilities were the biggest group to come in. The doggie daycare put it in their newsletter.

2. The second biggest group that came in saw it on flyers at the dog parks.

3. Others saw our postings on craigslist and on arlingtondogs.com bulletin board.

4. Offering add-on services such as earcleaning and nail clipping for $5 each doubled our donations.

5. Local doggie bakeries/boutiques were very happy to provide us with samples of treats with their cards. We were able to put together goodie bags for the dogs to take with them.
