Talk about community, a Delightful little story
Medium, And Message, Hold Steady For Amish Paper

"At a time when many newspapers are struggling, one unique weekly paper continues to thrive, much as it has for 120 years.

That's because it knows its audience: The Budget is the primary communication link among Amish worldwide. Recently, its writers gathered at the paper's headquarters in Sugarcreek, Ohio, to hone their journalism skills.

Think of The Budget as kind of a 19th century Facebook. It connects its subscribers — many of whom who have no electricity or phones — with family and friends scattered in Amish and Mennonite communities around the world.

1. That's wonderful.
I grew up in an area of the country where there are a lot of Mennonite and Amish families, so it made me rather nostalgic.

Thank you, Blue!

2. You're welcome, IHAD! It's so charming.
I for one love hearing the minutiae of what's going on in people's lives and their neighborhoods. Made me nostalgic too, though I've never had it. Maybe in another time and place :)

3. I love this...
It is charming, and touching.

I love the Amish areas I've been blessed to visit. Lancaster, PA, primarily. I was in awe of the purity and simplicity of their lives and truly enjoyed visiting their shops and farms.
