President George W. Bush would seem allied to dread events
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 09:18 PM by lavenderdiva
so says an article reviewing a new book by author Benson Bobrick, 'The Fated Sky: Astrology in History'

JohnyCanuck posted a thread about this in GD, but I didn't see anything on this here in this forum, and thought you guys might be interested...

link to thread in GD: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x383424

snip from article:

Bush Brings `Horror'

``Unfortunately, the horoscope of President George W. Bush would seem allied to dread events,'' Bobrick writes.

Horoscope readers will be interested to know that Bush's ``ascendant'' falls on the ``powerful fixed star'' of Praesaepe, ``one of the most malevolent clusters in the sky.''

``It does mean, astrologically, that he tends to bring horror in his wake,'' Bobrick writes of Bush, born under the sign of Cancer, the crab. ``Or so an astrologer might say. I am not one; and these are not my own, willful judgments, but Ptolemaic lore.''

1. Why doesn't this surprise me?

:eyes: I knew from the first time I had the misfortune of setting my eyes on that mess that there was something malevolent within him. My goodness, Pope John Paul said he was antichrist and wanted to try to stay here to work against him,(bush, that is).

2. Wow, I never heard the Pope John Paul quote. Amazing!
It's times like this that I'd love to see the front of this tapestry that is life rather than just seeing the back, which is what I think we, for the most part, get to see. It's just so frustrating to know that there are probably reasons (beyond free will) for the things that are happening but we'll probably never understand them.

I hope that we get answers when we get to the other side.

You can definitley feel it if you're sensitive. He isn't the antiChrist (this spirit has way more evil in them) but he does have a lot of evil. Poppy Bush still beats him though.

but we have similar transits impacting us right now. And mine don't have a malevolent significance, either about me or the events impacting me. Overlapping astrology doesn't equal a literal connection between two people, trust me.

Here's something I would watch out for, though, FA82--for many reasons, (your sensitive qualities, whatever superficial similarities exists between your astrology and Bush's) you may be picking up on his moods. This happens to me from time to time (it happened this week, actually) and it is NOT a good thing. I've found ways to shut off my perception of what's going on with him, because it's of no use to me, only unpleasant, but it's still disruptive when it does hit. Try to avoid thinking about him for very long at a stretch.

14. Didn't a Vedic Astrologer call him "Destroyer of WorldS"
a while back? Said * had destroyed other planets, as well. At the very least, he is playing this part on TV for his fundie followers, with his weird team of spiritual advisers including the author of the Left Behind books. Those who weren't raised by family who believe in this stuff probably don't worry about this as much as I do - I know all too well what their "prophecies" entail, and this misadministration is playing right into their misbegotten beliefs. Remember the "Mission Accomplished" speech on the ship back in May '03? That Bible verse he quoted from Isaiah was the very verse Jesus used to proclaim himself the Messiah, which fulfilled one of the prophecies concerning the Anti-Christ. Bush basically told them - he's IT.

Lest anyone think this would cause the Fundies to desert him, you need to realize he is doing just what they want him to - bring on the "End Times". When I told my cousin I thought he was the Anti-Christ she was horrified - for a year. Then, a year later, she called to say that "IF he is "playing" the Anti-Christ, it's only because he's such a Good Christian and loves Jesus soooo much he'll do ANYTHING to bring him back." :puke: :puke: :puke:
She was less than thrilled with my warning that blackmailing God was a very, very dangerous thing to do, and we haven't spoken since. My biggest worry is that he will do whatever they believe is necessary to fulfill their "prophecies", not limited to Armageddon, but including the "Seven Plagues", which seems totally ignored by everyone else. They really do believe that ALL our souls "belong in the Lake of Fire." (Hell)

21. I honestly don't remember the verse, sorry. There were a few
threads about it in GD at the time. If I get the time, I'll look it up - that's all I recall. The bird flu does concern me, mostly because they're hyping it so much. Plus, it brings into the discussion the aspect of the "Rapture" - whether that occurs before or after the seven plagues of Revelation. Some say the "Tribulation" comes first, others say the "Rapture" comes first. There is no doubt in my mind that Bush is playing this part for the fundies, but how far will they go to manufacture those "prophecies" into reality? Things in the middle east are getting...scary. I believe that if he does go after Iran militarily, it's Armageddon here we come. Which would mean thde Rapture comes AFTER "Tribulation". Right now, I'm doing all I can to send loving energy to and prayer for * and trying not to hate the lot of them. That's hard for me, but I'm trying.

22. my hat is off to you, and I'm sending blessings to you for your noble
effort in praying for Shrub. Here's another question for you: do you think if the fundies manufacture the prophecies, that this is truly fulfilling God's word, and that HE will see it as blasphemous, and since they didn't come from HIM, they 'don't count' as it were, towards what is needed for the end times to come about? So the fundies could be very amazed, when at the end of their manufactured prophecies, nothing happens-- because it didn't come from GOD.

24. Interestingly, this is what I was reading tonight...
One hears people say again and again, "If God exists, and there is indeed a divine order, how
can it be that so many terrible things happen on earth?" You all know, you have all learned that
human beings forge their own destinies. That you have to carry such heavy burdens is the result of
breaking spiritual laws, often unconsciously. Still, this will not sufficiently explain to you events like
wars, in which, through the decision of a few, many who seem innocent have to suffer a heavy fate.
To this I reply: First of all, even in mass or group disasters, an individual will never need to
experience anything that does not fit into his or her own destiny. Second, every person, except
those very few who have already reached a higher state of purification, is also sharing the
responsibility for wars and other mass disasters. Not only the politicians or those few who visibly
and publicly shape world history are to be made responsible for wars, but every single person who,
with impure thoughts and emotions, pollutes the cosmic "reservoir," and this, one day, must have its
effect.

Each thought of hate, of separation, of egoism, of injustice, of discrimination, of wanting
more for oneself than for one's neighbor, in short, each thought that breaks God's laws, is a building
block in that enormous spiritual structure -- war -- which must first be formed in spirit before it can
manifest destruction on the material plane. If only a small part of humankind sowed the seeds of
peace, wars would not exist, in spite of a few unscrupulous politicians. Most people, including you,
my friends, harbor thoughts of anxiety, and if not thoughts of hate, then of mistrust and separation,
such as between one group and another -- and all of these violate the law of brotherhood. Each
thought of this kind, each emotion is a significant contribution to the outbreak of war.

This does not apply to thoughts and feelings only, or to individual reactions to general
political issues and opinions. Even when people are free of false reactions concerning society in
general, but react in their private lives in erroneous negative ways, this energy will contribute to
precipitate a war or another mass catastrophe. Only when you purify yourself from within, cleanse
your emotions and thoughts and so best fulfill your destiny wherever you are placed, can you
become also a carrier of peace. Indirectly, by living spiritually, people can do more for or against
war than politicians or statesmen, my dear friends.

Question yourself honestly, feel into it, examine yourselves when you send out -- perhaps until
now unconsciously -- such "poison" that aids and abets the powers promoting war. Look at some
of your fellow humans with whom you might have difficulties. They might have hurt you and you
cannot get over it or understand it. Yet try looking at the issue from another point of view. Try to
see that the other person has perhaps reacted to you only from blindness, ignorance, and a great
inner insecurity, erroneously attempting to protect himself. Consider how often you have had a
similar reaction yourself and may have wounded a fellow human being, not because you wanted to
but because in your own blind insecurity you thought that this was the best way to protect yourself.
To the extent you do this yourself, it will be inevitably done to you by others, although not always by
the same person. To the extent you recognize and understand this state of affairs, you will recognize
the so far inexplicable behavior of the other for what it is, just in the way I have explained here.
With this understanding the hurt will leave you and then the understanding for the other party will
increase steadily because you have experienced it yourself and it has become part of your
consciousness. From the understanding comes empathy and that is the way of love. With it you
build your happiness, you gain knowledge and wisdom, you fulfill your life and so contribute to the
cause of peace. Complete this little task, my friends, every single one of you; take it seriously, not
superficially, and then you will feel a great liberation. You will free yourself of a burden.

(This is from the following link)
http://www.pathwork.org/lectures/P012.PDF

It's so difficult not to hate the people who are directly responsible for the mess in which we find ourselves today in the US, but hating apparently only makes the matter worse, according to this spirit guide.

but someone on a radio show or maybe it was a thread here on DU told how in every speech he gives, no matter what it is, he always gives some type of clue to the fundies in it. They'd know what he's talking about. Since I know my Bible I know it too and it's very creepy. I don't know why but I always get such creepy feelings when he says a Bible verse. Maybe it's because I know he's a phony or something I don't know. I wonder why he keeps getting in leadership roles too. It's very strange.

33. Lookee, lookee, lookee what a little googling will unearth!!
here is the actual text of the 'Mission Accomplished' speech where Shrub quotes this verse:

'Those we lost were last seen on duty. Their final act on this earth was to fight a great evil, and bring liberty to others. All of you — all in this generation of our military — have taken up the highest calling of history. You are defending your country, and protecting the innocent from harm. And wherever you go, you carry a message of hope — a message that is ancient, and ever new. In the words of the prophet Isaiah: "To the captives, 'Come out!' and to those in darkness, 'Be free!"'

Link to full text of speech: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/05/01/iraq/main551946.shtml

And TA DA. Guess what else I found? Our very own DU's William Rivers Pitt wrote a lengthy article about this speech, and this verse quote in particular! Here is the text of the article where Mr. Pitt is discussing this quote:

In his remarks, Bush closed with a paraphrasing of the Book of Isaiah: "In the words of the prophet Isaiah, 'To the captives, 'come out,' and to those in darkness, 'be free,''"

This was a quotation from Chapter 61 of Isaiah, the very book Jesus Christ used when proclaiming that Isaiah's prophesies of the Messiah had come true. Using this passage from Isaiah, Jesus presented himself as the Son of God in Nazareth. Thus it is told in Luke, Chapter 4, Verses 16-22:

"And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; and he went to the synagogue, as his custom was, on the sabbath day. And he stood up to read; and there was given to him the book of the prophet Isaiah. He opened the book and found the place where it was written, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." And he closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. And he began to say to them, "Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.""

Under normal circumstances, we could write this off as a President reaching for hopeful Biblical language to frame a particular argument. This has been done before, by many American leaders in many situations. In this case, taken on the political surface, we could see a President using the Bible to define the latest reason for war in Iraq -- the 'liberation' of the people -- in the conspicuous absence of the oft-repeated reason that started the war -- the presence of mass destruction weapons. A further analysis of George W. Bush himself, however, leads to some serious questions.

The passage of Isaiah referenced by Jesus at Nazareth, and by Bush on the Abraham Lincoln, is part of a larger collection of verses known as the "Servant Songs." The specific verse used by Bush, out of Isaiah 61, is most important; it is widely accepted by both Christian and Jewish scholars as announcing the Messiah. For Christians, the Messiah is Jesus, and so this passage refers specifically to Him and His coming. The fact that Jesus Himself used this passage to announce His presence further confirms this. Bush's reading of this passage suggests the possibility that he believes this coming, for the second time, has arrived.

It has been oft-reported that Bush witnessed the attacks of 9/11 and came to believe that God Himself, and not Scalia and the rest, put him into the Presidency for the sole purpose of pursuing this war against terrorism. It has likewise been oft-reported that Bush is an evangelical Christian of the vigorous Billy Graham stripe. We have witnessed the failure of every rationalization for making war on Iraq -- the WMDs, the terrorist connections -- and are left now with the rhetorical argument that we did the whole thing to 'save' the Iraqi people. Ergo, Bush positioned himself on the deck of that aircraft carrier as a savior.

We are talking about a man who wears masks for the sake of political opportunism, and to survive moments when he has to address himself in the bathroom mirror. Does this newest mask have George W. Bush taking on the mantle of Jesus Christ, Savior and Redeemer?

Here is a man so steeped in self-denial that he can shunt aside his own shameful history in order to pretend he is on the same moral level as the soldiers he abandoned when his time of service came due. Here is a man intent upon making war on as much of the Muslim world as he can put his hands around, while wrapping around himself the image and prophesies of Jesus Christ. What is next? Will we see George W. Bush standing before the American people saying "Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing"?

George W. Bush, master of denial. George W. Bush, wearer of masks. George W. Bush, soldier for Christ.

George W. Bush, Christ Himself?

Oh dear God, let there be light.

35. Update on Bush being the Anti-Christ, speaking in code!
Edited on Fri Feb-24-06 12:54 PM by Notorious Bohemian
I found this article in Editorials by a Pastor that clearly explains how and why Bush speaks in code, and lays out the plan for the End Times:

http://207.44.245.159/article5648.htm

1.. Mr. Bush consistently sends signals to his right wing religious base. In last year's State of the Union he exhorted: "there's power, wonder working power, in the goodness and idealism and faith of the American people". It's a phrase from a well known Communion hymn "there's power, wonder working power in the blood of the lamb". Bush brings together the holiness zeal of Christian evangelicalism with patriotic fundamentalism. The core belief system of this 'civic gospel' goes something like this: The United States was founded as a Christian nation with free enterprise as the only economic system truly compatible with Christian beliefs. These religious values are today under attack in America. The danger is that without faith in God America will lose its blessing. Therefore, the government needs to act to protect the nation's religious heritage.

<snip>

3.) Mr. Bush certainly sees himself as a Messiah figure. Listen to his language after 9-11: " I will not forget this wound to our country or those who inflicted it. I will not yield; I will not rest; I will not relent in waging this struggle for freedom and security for the American people." Or, in his 2003 State of the Union speech: "I will defend the freedom and security of the American people". He has become the nation. He is its embodiment. According to Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas, - Bush told him: "God told me to strike at al Qaida and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you help me I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them." This is Biblical language . it isn't political script. This is Bush's soul language. He understands himself as a man with a Divine mission. It also means that for him leadership is not "representing the people" rather leadership means transcending the will of the people. George Bush already knows the truth before the evidence is presented. He is guided by God and must blaze the trial even if the people are reluctant.

<snip>

The point I'm trying to make is that we are not dealing simply with politics when it comes to the Bush administration. The progressive left, which often pays little attention to Christianity, will be making a huge mistake if they overlook the religious ideology at the core of Mr. Bush personally and the movement he represents. And we are talking about a "movement" (a movement of 'the people' not just the elites). We are seeing today the emergence of a "fascist movement". It is bankrolled and organized by Corporations, articulated through the ideology of neo-conservativism. but is fueled by the right-wing church drawing upon Holiness/Holy War Biblical narratives.

George Bush IS playing the part of Anti-Christ for the Fundies, and they love him even more for it. No, it's not logical, but then logic doesn't interest them nearly as much as bringing on Armageddon.
And this is where the danger truly lies for everyone.

How do we stop them?

Edited to add another link about him speaking in code, with specifics:

36. thanks for posting this, Notorious Bohemian...
I had read somewhere about this, but this post puts it succinctly. It is damn frightening. AND I am a Christian! Bush just frightens the hell out of me. I fail to see how other Christians remain so blinded by his fakery. They seem to forget the biblical addage, 'you will know them by their fruits'. Well, Shrub's fruits are evil, pure evil.

There are people I work with, and relatives of mine who will actually say, 'I love to hear Bush speak'!!! They find his words reassuring. GAG. :puke: I just don't know how you show truth to these people. Don't confuse them with facts, as they already have their minds made up.

I can only hope that something happens to turn this whole mess around. I fear for our country's future and for our safety and our rights as its citizens.

37. Verrrrrrrrrry Interesting!
Thank you, lavenderdiva!

I really like this part at the end, too..

"For years, it was a criminal offense to practice astrology on Wall Street (or anywhere else in New York state). A New York law had declared astrologers -- along with acrobatic performers, circus riders and men who desert their wives -- ``disorderly persons,'' subjecting them to prison.

In 1914, astrologer Evangeline Adams, who claimed to be a descendant of President John Quincy Adams, tested the law in court after an undercover cop arrested her. The judge sided with Adams, ruling that the law was illegal.

By 1920, Wall Street trader William Gann was all but minting money by using ``astroinvestment'' strategies to predict commodity prices and stock-market swings. Part of his success was apparently based on calculating the birthday of the New York Stock Exchange, Bobrick writes.

That would be May 17, 1792. Think Taurus, sign of the bull."
