What do Spiders outside my doors mean??

This has been happenning to me for a few years now. About this time of year, and sometimes in the spring, I get spiders building webs JUST outside my doors. I now have 2 outside my front door, and one outside my back. This happened at my other houses also.
I assume this is a protection thing, but from what? I don't have anything in particular going on right now,and I don't recall anything big at the other times it has happened either.

I honor and respect the spider spirits; even though they do scare the heck outta me I figure they are there for a good reason.
What does this mean, or what should I be paying attention to?
Anyone know anything about this?

1. I have spiders all over my house and even my car year round

but there are more at this time of year, because I think they feel the cold coming and are looking for somewhere to nest for the winter. I clean the webs and put them back in the garden, but it seems like a losing battle. The spiders are winning. I don't use insecticides because all in all they are good for the garden, trapping and eating pests that ruin plants and flowers.

I know you were looking for a more mystical meaning but it could just be mother nature running her course.

possible..it's just that they are NOWHERE else evident EXCEPT outside the doors.
Well, we will keep an eye out and see what behavior ensues.

5. Natural Dream catchers

It sounds silly, but that really is how I've always viewed spider webs.

If you really watch a spider in the web you can see that some of the threads are the sticky ones and some are the smooth ones the spider walks on. The sticky ones catch things--kind of like a Dream Catcher catches dreams and visions.

6. Protection?

I had some difficult people against me for a time and only during that time there were always these blackwidows near both entries. It kind of freaked me out and I was going to remove them, but my son said they were protecting our home. When the difficult time passed, they were gone and I haven't seen them since.

When my dad died someone cleared away all the blackwidows that made their home around his house...and my brother made a point of announcing during his funeral that my dad always said that "those spiders have as much right to be there as we do."

I am a spider-phobe. When I go out and spider webs cross my path in the yard, it reminds me to take care in my dealings that day.

7. spiders 'r cool

I've never thought ill of spiders since I went to a spider exhibit at the Smithsonian a decade ago or so. If you read up on them, they are most amazing.

I have them all over my place and especially this time of year. I once thought of naming my place "Spider Hollow."

If I see them around the house, I don't really do anything with them. On occasion, I might pick one up with a tissue and drop it outside--but carefully.

I talk to them, too. I call them "Mr. Spidey."

Mine weave webs across my windows! I was going to brush them away but then one day a spider web caught a bug and it was so entertaining to watch how the spider dealt with it. I said I'm just going to leave those webs there.

Today, in fact, I was watching them shimmer in the breeze.

Don't fear spiders; learn about them. Be careful with some but mostly, just enjoy them. Live and let live.

8. Oh,

I do just leave them alone..although I think hubby may have moved the one out back because he had to clean the grill. I just let them go on about their biz...the just give me the willies.
I respect them though.

10. I named the spider that lived in my bathroom "Octavia"

I let her live there and talked with her when i was in the shower. I like spiders too. I always have good luck when one shows up in my house. Although if they are too big, I put them outside ;-)

9. One of my undergrad advisors, a Blackfoot, told me spiders=balance.

In his tradition, they represent one of nature's more enlightening, but elusive, teachers. If they show up in your life, it is to help you create balance within your environment by (literally) removing pests from it, and figuratively reminding you of the spider's ever-patient creating and recreating of a self-contained kind of sustenance that hinges on balance, harmony and interdependence. Autumn is a good time to be reminded of that kind of cycle, I think.

ETA: Sidner Larson, who may be familiar to some of you, was the advisor. "Stop killing the spiders!" was what he told us in lecture a couple of times.

11. It means winter's coming, and they want some

place to hide from the nasty weather. They will come inside soon and spend the winter deep within the cracks and crannies of your house. Then, come spring, they will set up their house near their winter habitat until the weather warms. Then, they will usually move to the garden where the insects are easier pickings. (Unless your door light beings the insects to them, that is. Then, they'll hang around for the easy pickings.)

I have so many spiders hanging around my front and back doors, you'd think a witch lives here. Oh, wait...I do. ;-)


I've heard their webs can be used for insect bites, but never tried it.

13. I call October "Spider Month"

It's no accident that they're a symbol of Halloween. You see webs everywhere in October.

This summer I sucked a large spider up in the vaccum on purpose. Usually I don't do this, since in general they are beneficial. About a week later I got bit by a tick (spider family) which caused a large red rash for which I had to take a course of antibiotics.

Those spiders stick together :)
