FEBRUARY prayer request, light and healing thread

Some of my earliest days of prayer were by my dad at the old scratchy sofa. We were both on bended knees. He cried for the pain of people. Something I picked up. Sometimes I needed to get up and take a break. He never did. An honest heart was he. Most likely he took his prompting from Christ, who cried for the “sins” of the people. What came across to me was he cared enough to kneel and shed tears for other people’s pain. When the time came, they did so for him also. Since then I have also learned the lesson of rejoicing. Giving Thanks.

There is much we can cry for this season. The “sins” of you know who.

But to lift it to a higher Light, if we wish, we might visit Mudras for February.

Lifting hands was controversial in the conservative religion I inhabited. As I’ve written on the forum, I sometimes speak in tongues, when I have trouble sleeping. My mother told me my dad prayed with tongues. No one in his congregations ever knew about that, I'm sure! Spoken (understandable) words were not enough to give expression. Mudras are somewhat the same. I think. I will learn a lot more from this than I can imagine. So. See I was all selfish taking this assignment.

As I have learned energy work, it is beneficial to lift your palms to the sky at times. This can be a way to receive. Although, not necessary, it gives a sense of being filled.

While my dad lay in his last bed, I noticed he was doing “OM” with his fingers. He was not an OM practitioner. It just came naturally to him. The message I received was that OM is a universal language.

I wish I could instruct. But I’m asking each of you to contribute and tell how you use Mudras, if you do. I'll be doing some research because I'm interested in the topic. There are other types of hand positions too. Who has experience with those?

Are our hands integral to our spiritual practices? When we pray, what do our hands say about us? What Mudra do we portray? Are we giving or receiving? Both?

And as always, bring your thanks, prayer requests and answers to the thread.

Introduction to Mudras
What mudras are and how to use them.

Mudras are positions of the body that have some kind of influence on the energies of the body, or your mood. Mostly the hands and fingers are held in some position, but the whole body may be part of the mudra as well.

The most well-known mudras are probably the ones performed while meditating. One sits in lotus position (or with crossed legs) and either puts one's hands on the knees, the tips of the thumb and index finger joining, or in the lap, the fingers of the right hand resting on the left palm. But also the christian crossing of the fingers for prayer is a mudra, as is the indian greeting gesture (that is also used while praying), where the hands are held in front of the chest, the palms touching.

The crossing of the hands puts one's attention within, while opening the heart. The indian greeting gesture puts one into a mood of respect.

Some mudras are performed spontaneously by many people, like the Hakini mudra, where the tips of all fingers from the right hand touch the corresponding fingertips from the left.

Mudras have been in use in the East for thousands of years, particularly in Buddhism. Buddha statues often have the hands in certain hand positions. They have been used as a spiritual practice (and still are), as a way on the path to enlightenment.

VSM here. Chances are we are all using some form of Mudra during meditation, times of stress, during prayers, while having conversations. From what I've browsed so far, they can be simple or more complex. I'm starting off, simple.

I was just in a tense meeting where three people were trying to talk at the same time.
I was unable to compute what they were saying. So I tried the Hakini Mudra. My concentration was able to zero in on the content of what was being said!
This is like a silent prayer, isn't it?

Hand position

Let the tips of the corresponding fingers of each hand touch.
Emotional / spiritual use
People tend to naturally put their fingers in this position while talking. This helps to concentrate.

That hadn't occurred to me and haven't read it anywhere. Very intuitive on your part.
I went with a friend to a Buddhism meetup tonight. One of the participants brought up some issues he is having with meditation. The facilitator showed him a Mudra to ground. Palms up, place the right hand on top of the left and bring the thumbs together. She said that balances the energies as the 'electrical current' flows between the thumbs. I was awestruck that Mudras even came up!
But I guess if you go hanging with the Buddhists, it's bound to. :D

18. I am going to ask for some light

I've never done this so I feel somewhat awkward...but maybe that is part of my problem. Anyway, I was on the phone today with someone on the East coast for my project. Over the years I have had my hopes up many times when nothing really materialized, and quite often it was worse; scams. These days, experience let's me identify those quite well - but perhaps this time it may actually be, not only real, but may work. Dealing with an investor who knows my field.

So, if this is a scam, please let me see it soon enough and if it is real, I am one step closer to do some good - I'd appreciate supportive light from my beloved friends...

I swear; y'all; I am doing my best; but you know; when you are adventurous enough to ask the Universe to show you how to remove your blocks; you should not be complaining when your wish is fufilled.
BOY; is it ever.
Let's see: Car's been having trouble (the ONE we can use; that is!*); and I went and picked up the parts needed to fix it yesterday morning before husband had to leave for work (2 hours south). This morning we took him to (you know what); and on the way back (with toddler in the car); the car completey shut off in the MIDDLE of the road. (I did manage to get it home after a bit)
Yesterday the gas company told me they couldn't deliver without a deposit so I called the oil company. They deliverd the oil and he went to go light the pilot light and discovered the starter on the furnace is kaput. AFTER I spent almost all our money on the oil.
SIGH.

As per the manifestation advice; I really tried to meet both challenges yesterday with a calm mind and to find my happiness and thankfulness. I think I did ok with that; but today in the middle of the road I just broke down crying. I guess I failed to raise my vibration on this subject. Now I feel bad for not reacting positively when I was only getting what I had asked for--opportunity to change the way I react.

I am going to do some tapping--just did a bit and I feel a bit better. Please; send your light to help me raise my vibration. I am really wanting to learn this lesson and raise my vibration so I can manifest more positive things for me and my family.


* can't use the other one because I need $300 to pay the state for the fact my insurance lapsed last fall (now they charge for it each time); and also that car needs another $300 repair (but could make it to husband's work without it if the tags were current).

(Mercury retrograde doesn't start until something like February 13th, I think. However, maybe the energies have started. Since I'm not an astrologer, I don't know how that really works.)

When I ask the Universe to help me to learn my lessons, I always say that I want my lessons to come with 'pink ribbons and silver paper'. (Basically, asking for the Universe to be extra gentle with me where possible.) I don't know whether it really helps or not, but at least I'm not kicking myself later if things start to get tough.

54. Someone showed me

a method to raise vibrations/energy which I had never heard of. She calls it 'fluffing the energy'.
You bend your elbows and hold your hands in front about the level of the root chakra, not touching your body, and use up-sweeping motions in at a moderate pace, not slow, not fast. Not sure if it works, but I use it anyway.

Even without asking, I think Universal Manager gives us those opportunities to show us where we still need growth or more development. I know I can have some wonderful days and all of a sudden someone is getting on my nerves. I ask, what am I supposed to learn from this. So far, I've been able to mentally adjust and end up feeling great again. Sounds like you are doing same.

Also I think as we progress, we become more sensitized to energies. Hang out with other people who have high vibrations. It helps.

52. Some astrologers over recent years have started using the term

the "shadow of the retrograde cycle."

That starts when a planet goes over the degree at which it'll eventually go stationary direct and lasts until a planet goes over the degree at which it had gone stationary retrograde.

I had always described it in the case of Mercury as a "wobbly Mercury." In other words, as a Mercury which requires centering.

The shadow preceeding the retro is far flakier than the one after the retro cycle as it's especially good for rectifications and cleaning up all sorts of confusion and misunderstandings from the retro period IMHO. I don't like calling the latter a shadow for those reasons.

This cycle we entered the shadow period Jan 21st. It goes retro on Feb 13th, will go direct on March 7th, and will go over the degree at which it went retro on March 28th.

Here's a little something so you can create an oasis in the chaos and a break in the action for yourself, others and that which you're connected to. After making sure that your pet is warm and comfortable, gently press and hold the open points along the base of his skull. Whatever effort you provide will bring him great relief and will recalibrate and balance his energy fields. Key word: gently. All you need is the pressure of a dime. This action restricts the sinovial fluid and recalibrates the bones in his head and spine which rebalances the energy he's holding throughout his body. He'll be able to tolerate this for several minutes. If you can ground yourself and him, all the better. Be in the grounding and breathe normally, letting it happen, not making it happen. Resonating yourself and him with a simple mantra or chant increases the benefits.

Light to the flower shop where I am employed for the duration of Valentines is sorely needed, please.

I left a bit early today, but did not walk in and quit, as was my first reaction.
The women working there are very clique-ish and gossipy. I HATE that. I stood up for a customer who was being badmouthed the other day. I was gentle, but it may have caused some resentments. Or it could just be their style. I've never worked with a 'Prima Donna' designer. I have heard of them, but mercifully never had to endure one. There is at least one at this shop. She is 29 y/o, and her mother works there too. Today she took my entire jar of rose wire while I was going after more flowers. When I retrieved them, it set off a chain reaction where three of the other designers started making a big show of asking her if they could have some of her roses, etc. Her mother told me they all share. I asked, "how is it sharing to take all my wire"? The daughter said, "I didn't know it was your wire" (!!!!). Just because I've been at that work station for four days doing ROSES, no reason to assume I needed wire? They had all ordered lunch for three days, never asking me if I wanted to order, until I mentioned it yesterday. Today I got to order lunch...
It is so tiresome. I can feel the negative energy oozing.

Last week at our LOA meetup, there was a woman from out of town who sat next to me. After-wards, she told me I was "wonderful", that I am a healer. I was floored. That kept me floating all week. Saturday night at the LOA pot luck, met another new woman, and she commented that it seems like I would be good working with Energy. I told her, I do. I don't do it as much as I should perhaps.

Maybe all these experiences are to nudge me in the direction of finding my footing as a 'healer' rather than the relatively easy path of poking posies.

Day was when the treatment at the shop would have resulted in my immediate self termination, gallons of tears, maybe even drowning my 'sorrows' in a bottle of booze, etc. Not today! I understand that these women are lacking peace. I do hope they find some. Send Energy for them first.

I'm remembering all the animals and other requests posted. I'm so grateful we can bring our needs to each other.

ps .. and oh .. it appears that $100 went missing from my purse at the shop Saturday.
I mentioned it to the owner and manager yesterday, but told them I didn't suspect anyone. I checked with the bank today, and their machine didn't make an error, and in light of what I've seen from that bunch since .. I don't know. There's nothing I can do.

It also seems that in some circumstances women I meet 'test' me. (I had a pretty steady friendship network for several years before I moved two years ago. Am just now building a new one here.) There are those that like me right away (most men seem to), but others take an instant dislike to me. I have been able to turn that around, so far in every case, by continuing to act honestly and true to myself. That's the only way I intend to act, so if that's a problem for someone, then they can deal with it as they see fit. It seems to me that my recent writings make me sound like some kind of snob or conceit. Really not. I was a "victim" for most of my life. I played it well. I expected bad news on every front. Through lots of work and trial and error, I think that may be a thing of the PAST. Not everyone is thrilled about that change. I'm still settling into it. Do not want to go back.

Thanks IHAD. I do feel helpless about the money situation. I'll tell the manager and owner, but further than that, there is nothing I can do, other than not take money to work. Never had to worry about that before. I so hope I'm wrong and that there is another explanation. I just cannot think of another. (My roommate had opportunity, but I REALLY don't believe he would. He cares about my kitty and me a lot, and would not jeopardize his living situation.)

See the entire shop and everyone in it surrounded by a ball of light. Whatever color(s) come to mind, let them play out for awhile, engulfing you and your vision of the shop. You'll feel your (your and their) emotions manifesting as you do. You can gently hold and facilitate this with your intention and your breath while this is happening. Breathe normally ..., letting it happen, not making it happen. Asking your favorite deities to help change the situation and all that it's connected to for the highest good of all concerned will help further what you want.

After setting this up, change the light to purple, the light of transformation and see it pervading you and the image inside and out. Spend some time with this. Breathe normally. You may notice/see/feel the energies as they move/shift/tranform/settle as you do. Again, after some time, change the light to green and do the same thing.

Should work like a charm with time on task. Note: frequency works better than duration. Jai.

While I was getting ready and on the drive over, I practiced the suggestions you and others gave me.
Your replies also reminded me of H'opono ponopono. I change that one around a bit until I feel comfortable with the words.
I did the mudra and Light visualizations. You all's Light and Energy fed me.

I was put at a different workstation today and wasn't being bumped into as much. There are a lot of people, all doing their own stuff, and flowers and buckets all over the place. Crowded. The manager is glad to have me there because I hustle. This morning I decided to be happy and joyful. When I got in my car after work the first thought I had was, "I am so happy"!
I was also able to get into Zen time, which was very neat.

123. My friend Nancy needs light and love.

She lives in Pompano Beach, Florida. She has a hip problem which is painful and may require surgery. I don't know any more specifics about it.

Nancy is the person who taught me healing and Reiki, as well as many other practical ways of living in a heart-centered manner. She has had several breast tumors, the latest of which had been labeled malignant by three biopsies. After a weekend of healing, she had the tumor removed, and the final word was that it was benign. She, and many of us who learned from her, will never doubt the power of heart-centered healing energy.

I'll be thinking of Nancy in my meditation tonight, and any who wish to send her light will be appreciated.
