Saturn is often depicted as an old graybeard professor, telling us we need to grow up and get with the program. The only thing he conveniently leaves out is that there is no program - only a basic design that we as individuals always have the opportunity to form for ourselves. And even though the myth of Neptune sees "him" as a male deity, on spiritual levels Neptune (as Lord of the Oceans) represents a higher octave energy of the planet Venus.
The myth of Venus has Her emerging from the sea foam as a fully grown entity. Water is of the feminine polarity, and Pisces is a Water sign ruled by Neptune, so Neptune is really a mythical trans-gender energetic, especially when in opposition to Saturn. The astrological event of our current lives is basically forming a cosmic yin-yang in our solar system.
When two outer planets like Saturn and Neptune are opposed each other, the tendency is for both to express their shadow energetic. For Saturn, old graybeard becomes cop, jury and executioner, and Neptune is a fog bank that obscures the shore. Our collective boat needs a new captain, but we may not even know where the wheel-house is.
There's no pretty way to paint this picture for the unenlightened or unwilling as the Sun moves into Pisces, whether we have anything in our natal Pisces or not. Pisces deals with all of life's ambiguities - all the things we don't absolutely know "for sure." The primordial symbol of Pisces is of two fishes joined together at the tail, quite often indicating that things are moving in opposite directions. Pisces tells us that all things are connected - even the dichotomy of natural vs. unnatural - while simultaneously giving us a sense that everyone is different, and something is trying to pull us apart.
This particular Mercury retrograde is concerning itself with showing us how separated we have become from our Source, and the reasons why we are all here in our lives at this time. We can do this work successfully if we have dedicated our lives to reuniting with the One, or we can become overwhelmed by the deep waters that Pisces represents. This is especially true of the failed concept of "black vs. white" in all aspects of our lives, being replaced by the truism that everything is merely different shades of gray. Mercury retrograde in Pisces will highlight the gray areas of our lives, as if we need any more uncertainties.
