Being new here I might have missed some posts - So tell me about pre-cog dreams (and my stories)
Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 11:43 PM by The Straight Story
When I was a younger man (boy) I started to get involved in the study of ESP, Kirlian Photography (sp?), Russians and their psychic research, ufo's, etc and so on.

One of the reasons I got interested (and I have to thank my dad in part for all that - even though he is/was a fundie he was open minded on all sorts of cool things, which opened my mind - long stories about all that for later maybe) in all this psychic stuff was due to things which went on with me personally (and I things I heard about over the years, again, best left for another post).

My first dream I remember coming true is when I was a young man, maybe around 9-11 years old. Been awhile so hard to recall the age :)

I was sitting with my bro and sis and I told them I had dreamed exactly this moment (they were playing 500 rummy iirc). They laughed at me and did not believe me, but I knew I had seen this moment before in a dream, to the very clothes we were all wearing (which is odd to me, because some dreams I have seen through my eyes and others, like this one, I saw as though I were someone else looking at the situation).

I had, up until that point in my life, never studied pre-cog stuff, psychic things, etc. So it was all new and bizarre to me.

Sometime later (and I won't go into all the dreams I have had) I dreamed I was in the living room and saw an ad on TV for the movie Foxes. About a year later I saw that ad, the lighting was the same, I was in the same position, and I saw it from my eyes and not from another perspective.

I was not into Jodie Foster and movies that much (except monster movies), and to be honest it - like the previous dream - kind of scared me.

Anytime I have a dream that seems 'real' it concerns me. You know, the type of dreams where things are just like in real life versus the types of dreams we see as interpretive of our life. The dreams where things are weird (like the ones I had about my mom in different places that have no relation to real life, etc and so on).

I don't know how or why such dreams exist. I know the skeptical argument that over time you will have, statistically, dreams that are accurate - and I can agree with that to some extent. But I feel these dreams (and some others) were well outside this realm.

Anyone have any ideas as to why such dreams come and go, why they are so infrequent but that when we have them they are so accurate (I compare those dreams with others I have that had accurate data but not complete in details)?

Such dreams still frighten me, because when I have a 'realistic' dream I am concerned it will come true. I don't have many such realistic dreams thankfully :)

I get, personally, that many of our more odd dreams are ways for the brain to deal with issues - but I think even then they can predict the future (and I have several examples of that). But does anyone have any way to explain how a person can have a dream that comes precisely true, down to the most minute detail?

I have been a Christian, atheist, agnostic, new ager, etc in life - and it still does not make sense :)

1. when you think that thoughts are energy
we are energy, and everyone else is, and combine that with the theory that time is not linear it is quite an interesting expedition. ;)

Some time ago I think I posted something on the "grid" and the similarities of the dream researcher's "brain grid" - just symbolic, here.

but I believe our brain, mind, thoughts, consciousness can do amazing things, which we as a society have not yet identified to be true.

My favorite, as everyone knows here, is IONS or the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Material based on Bohm, Shedrake, Dean Radin etc. lot's of new research to explore and digest.

Some past material here from the Rhine Institute:

While upsetting, I believe precognitive dreams are maybe glimpses of possibilities of a future event. Many intertwining independent choices have to be made - so some can even be averted? In any event we must be interacting with other energies while dreaming...

I used to dream of airplane crashes -completely had nothing to do with my own life and experience - so I must have picked up someone or a group of people's experiences. At the time I felt bad, and even guilty in a way dreaming them, and I told myself that's it - no more. If I do dream them, I don't know, I must be blocking them. I have not dreamed those anymore since.

2. Welcome!
Since I don't have to live with it, I actually think your precog dreams are fairly cool. I wonder is it possible to school yourself to do it more often and work with the information somehow? I had a friend once who used to be able to tell herself what (or who) to dream about at night, and she would! Of course, she was dreaming about John Travolta. :)

3. The first example
sounds like deja vu. It seems I had that a lot more when I was younger.

I still remember what may have been my first. We were staying in a small upstairs motel room in an old building. We were there to see my grandparents who lived in that small town. We had bought RC colas and peanut patties. I went downstairs to the apartment/office of the owner to ask to borrow a bottle opener, and had my hands folded behind my back. When the lady went to get it, I turned around and thought, I can't wait to get back to my peanut patty! Then it struck me that I had done that very thing before. Deja vu.

I wonder why those things fade with time. At least for some of us.

I can't explain it, though. I have more questions than answers myself.

btw. welcome to the ASAH group :hi:
