My sister the RN....
Edited on Sun Mar-02-08 11:16 PM by teenagebambam
....has just finished some Reiki training and was practicing on the family's various ailments while visiting this weekend.

After we all commented on how much better we felt (most amazing was my younger sister, who is inconsolable about her recent breakup....before the treatment she could literally not go five minutes without crying hysterically, vomiting, or BOTH) my sister the RN said "Huh, yeah well, it DOES seem to work amazingly well on everyone I've tried it with, and I'm not even sure I believe in it."

Edited to add a postscript: My mother, also visiting, who has voted a straight Republican ticket in every election since 1947 because that's the way her father told her to vote, and who still occasionally uses the word "colored" when talking about African-Americans, is voting for Obama should he be the nominee. And she told us that BEFORE her Reiki treatment!

1. I've always wanted to have some Reiki treatments...
It sounds like your sister, the R.N., may have even more healing powers and not know it. That's VERY COOL about your mom voting (hopefully) for Obama. Wow........

2. Sounds as though you had a great weekend, teenagebambam.
I wonder if your little beagle picked up some of your younger sister's vibes. Sometimes animals can be really sensitive.

3. I think that's it
Seven-year old neice was also here, and little buddy's not used to having someone around who's as hyper as he is!

4. did the beagle get some reiki too?
I have a friend who gives reiki to pets. I practice on plants but my cats won't sit still long enough.

5. Have you tried proxy work for your cats working on yourself, a stuffed animal, etc?
I have some furkids who went through some trials before I got them so I try to treat them regularly. One in particular really needs it but he won't sit still much less with me unless I coax him into curling up into one of the wicker baskets the cats take turns snoozing in. Then I can plop him in my lap and just let things flow when I watch TV. It really mellows him out. He acts much more relaxed and is less rough playing with the others.
